They should aid you when leaving, seeing if there's actual mass.
Plasma/lasers should give 0 effect. Rails should have DPS reduced(yes.) and give more effect. Projectile should do less, but still effect. Explosive should just throw you out of the room, faster than a drunk at a night club.
I refuse to gve honor to your 'god' so therefore i dual tank.
Also i feel itchy. Anybody got a tube of Rust-It?

why don't you try checking the area first before making any of your moves next time, pretty basic concept
and stop exaggerating the slowing effect, we have much bigger things to concern ourselves about rather than a mechanics that is easily worked around Sooooo being forced to the speed of crouch walking is not a major issue? The major benefits of speed tankig is to dart in and out but when your constantly be forced to a crawl by stray bullets and the only way to stop it is to crouch then uncrouch is not a bs mechanic?
why haven't I experienced this "slow to the speed of crouch walking" thing you guys are talking about, then? I've been shot while sprinting plenty of times.
either provide actual proof or just stop using your anecdotes please |

OK people who haven't experienced it probably aren't using a speed suit. Just because you haven't experienced it doesn't mean it's not real. There's any different people in this thread saying g it happens.
Also are some people actually using the "get gud it's not cod" argument? Wtf are you talking about? You just want to stand, ADS, and shoot. Hit and run tactics require the run part. |

It's real and extremely frustrating to experience when trying to run to cover. Get shot in the back and it's as if a giant hand is holding you in place to be killed. Once you are tagged by a single round CCP says "just stand there and let that guy finish you off."
It may have been designed to slow strafing, but it slows running for cover just as much. It's basically a built in stasis effect for every weapon. |

I'm getting a cap card very soon and I will document every single glitch I find. This is not a mechanic, it's just plain old unfair. Why should I get punished by 1-3 shots regardless of its strength, from any distance and COMPLETELY stop all my actions. Stun-Lock my gun so I can't fire, run or jump? It honestly sounds like it's a way to slow down the game because from what I have heard/ experienced the game CANNOT process the speed at which people run. |

1) if you haven't noticed, in arms development since the dawn of time weapons have always been developed to beat armor and protection. Even the best and sturdiest body armor of today won't eliminate the pain and shock of taking a hit by a firearm. Why would the relationship between weapons technology and personal protection technology be any ******* different in Dust 514? (a hypothetical future scenario based on current, real world observations)
2) Study some ******* physics. The amounts of power needed to feasibly create a projected forcefield that completely eliminates any noticeable effect of getting hit by a firearm would be ridiculous. And we know for a fact that the shields in Dust aren't enough for that job (if they were, it would've been impossible to penetrate them and do damage to armor). From this we can logically deduce that the shields merely work by despersing kinetic and thermal energy and spreading it out over a larger area to make it less harmful (much like kevlar does, but as a projected forcefield surrounding the user rather than being worn as a garment).
That doesn't mean it would stop you from feeling the hits and be affected by them. It only means that the hits won't kill you immediately.

Shields in this game are depicted as a perfect defense otherwise the damage would bleed through to the armor underneath(why Kevlar is layered and usu. used in conjunction with steel or ceramic plates). If I had to pin a reason as to why they deplete is would be because the energy need to sustain them is not infinite. Almost everything in this game (why I'm convinced your dumb) requires obscene amounts of energy. Your not smarter just because you say/think you are.

I however cannot support this mechanic! I could understand a mechanic to make you become stunned/stumble/be pushed around, but the slow down mechanic is completely broken and stupid. If I'm shot in the backside, I mean *cough* A** *cough* then I shouldn't be frozen in place running on a treadmill but rather pushed forward or some other such idea. If I'm falling through empty air and FREEZE when shot, then it's complete BS.
I agree with many arguments within this topic that it is understandable that such a mechanic can seem like a more "realistic" idea, but where I agree with others who have suffered through it is that it is implemented in all the wrong ways and as such is currently BROKEN. Never mind realism with shields and armor, never mind realism with being hit by a high speed bullet, it just doesn't work well with the game.
Maybe some people have yet to suffer through this mechanic. Okay, I'm willing to believe that, just as the aim assist only works with certain clients! There are aspects of Dust 514 that just seem to pick and choose who gets affected by specific mechanics and we the players/consumers cannot tell who becomes affected by which aspects. To those of you saying HTFU, I just want to ask you politely to please STFU and realize that if it doesn't happen to you, or at the least doesn't happen nearly as much as others are complaining, then don't start getting annoyed and pissed off when others get so frustrated with it that they complain to CCP here on the forums.

That definitely needs to go as far as I'm concerned. Soon as you get hit by an LR or HMG, if you aren't right on top of a corner where you can get around it in about half a second, you're dead. That's a bunch of BS. As far as I'm concerned, it's an automatic crutch for HMG users.

Exactly...look i know this game is not about realism but still. this new mechanic will reward intelligent players and punish those who do not want to use the brain that they have. It's an old mechanic that CCP introduced back in closed beta when the game couldn't keep up with scouts.
It makes no sense and has a big effect on the overal feel of the game, which most reviewers decribe as clunky, awkward, second-rate and my favorite, 'about what you would expect from a free-to-play shooter'.
The sloth mechanics isn't doing DUST any favours and it needs to go away forever and be replaced by a quality immersive mechanic that adds to the gameplay.
My preferred candidate for a 'taking fire' mechanic is that getting hit significantly bumps up your dispersion and weapon kick. The effect should scale up with the caliber(technically momentum) of incoming rounds and scale down with suit mass. This would keep gameplay fast but still give an advantage to the merc who lands the first shot.
It would also add another layer of sophistication to choosing your load out - if you were spawning into a heavy firefight you might wanna think about choosing low dispersion low kick weapons for your loadout.
What we have now is cheezy and frankly embarrassing. I refuse to even mention it when i'm describing DUST's gunplay to peeps who don't play, because i know it'll turn them off immediately.
I support SP rollover.

Well then time to use that brain in your head cause you get a pop quiz! Here's the question
How does a laser/bullet affect me when it is still only hitting my shield and not my person (armor)?

Your not smarter just because you say/think you are.
Shields absorb the energy of incoming weapons fire instead of blocking it. The amount of shields remaining is actually the remaining amount of energy that can be absorbed before the shield must be deactivated to allow the collected energy dissipate. This process is regulated by the suit to prevent releasing too much at once causing damage to yourself and your surroundings which is why they take time to recharge.
