While they were in the SDE, no they were not scheduled for 1.8
I'd expect them to be in 1.9, but I doubt anyone would use it over the Combat Rifle.

The suits were pretty much the exact opposite slots and armor (although now exactly opposite, just less and more or something like that), but it had special suits like the scout suit that got an extra eq slot for 2 sidearms instead of 1 primary and 1 sidearm.

Also in the Dev Blogs, I thought I saw a basic-level Assault Scrambler Rifle. That would be pretty cool and a nice indication of getting MLT Assault variant rifles for the racial starter fits.
Also: Would love a Breach Variant Swarm Launcher (Single shot high alpha damage)GǪ
