Brick tanked scouts exist because it is the nature of the game, in its current state, that HP supercedes any other option. What module would you place in your lows/highs as a medium suit? It sure as hell isn't going to be a bunch of dampeners, you are going to stack as much HP as you can because that is THE BEST option.
Instead of spamming the forums to nerf scouts and breaking a class, again, that has been broken for almost a year have CCP fix the module balancing and the medium suit balancing. We are never going to get anywhere by cleaning the symptons of another problem, eventually it will just spread to another class over and over again. After scouts are nerfed the problem will translate to another suit, post 1.8 the problem child was the Logistics suits stacking a lot of HP sound familiar?
In EVE this problem doesn't exist, not only because dual tanking is suicide (which it should be in Dust) but because there are modules in highs and lows that are worth the HP sacrifice.

Dual tanking in dust is almost required by CCP's idea of TTK. So I think there are 2 real problems that need fixed, TTK and a buff to non health modules. |

Agreed.
On my ADV fit I've settled on using a complex extender and a basic reactive for tank - I have the holy scout trinity of complex precision enchancers, range amps and dampener in the rest.
I'm a scout with ewar mods but I get this nagging feeling that this is a 'niche' or otherwise peculiar way to play scout these days...

The real problem is the fact that once you stack more than ~3 HP mods (especially armour) the base values of the suit don't really matter any more. The obvious solution is to discourage stacking too much EHP. |

That is somewhat how I play my scout but they way Dust 514 works this is not the most "optimal" way to play a scout. Although it should be.

If you change the penalties of Dust like they are in EVE you would discourage dual tanking, along with some module swapping. As far as stacking a single tank that wouldn't necessarily be much of a problem (specially armor) since stacking just armor increase the damage you take tremendously.
People should stop singling out armor since it is on a thin thread from being OP and very UP.

Shield and armor parity.....
True Shield tanks require you to use High slots and low slots and are extremely CPU intensive... and hard to fit with any decent gun combination... So a proper shield tank get's sacrificed for armor which only needs Lows. and is better bang for buck fitting wise.
Armor tanks OONLY require you to use low slots to make the best armor tank... leaving you high slots to assemble a shield tank aswell...
There should be a Health disparity between armor and shield... After all one regenerates quickly... And one does not... The premise is right... But the Fitting cost... The Efficacy of the Modules... And the Slot layout uses... Need a reconcept.....
Which is why alot of people are surprised CCP didnt address Shield and Armor Parity with Racial Parity... We thought.. i guess mistakenly? that they walked hand and hand
What do we know....

I though CCP would balance the fitting costs... that was the first thing I checked when 1.8 was released.

I used to run a 5kd weekly when I ran cal ass. I would run my pro fit with 1k health or my adv with 800. I thought it was mostly skill.. I respeced to minja and know my weekly is 3.1 running a pro fit of 420ish hp only running shields not a single plate. It's simple; the cost to run plates should be increased while other mods need to be buffed or easier to fit. |
