Ladies and Gentlemen of New Eden whom has chosen the path of the ghost walker, the way of the wind, and the lure of the shadow...
I invite you to share some of your tales of cloaked domination in this thread. Share your fond memories of taking life while cloaked or losing it, while cloaked.
I shall begin...
The sun glared brightly, south of the Amarrian outpost. That day was a day of domination and the scouts ran like ninja rats around the map, searching for victims to surprise with a buckshot of freely given death. I was one of them, hidden in the daylight, mouth frozen with a slight smile. I imagined my face having a deranged look of insanity, a look of cheerful madness that only a new power used darkly can give you.
Just in the distance, next to some empty trailers, a rigid, large dropsuit slowly bobbed towards my direction. My teeth turned a blueish color as my smile widen and the HUD illuminated them. I crouched in my suit and cloaked, noticing the finger push the activation button with a hint of situational awareness about it. I slowly moved to the right of his approach, using discipline to move as slow as possible to lessen my shimmer. His construction vehicle designed dropsuit bobbed right past me without a hint of my presence being shown in his movements.
Gitty with excitement, I ran behind him and followed him for several paces. I took the time to enjoy my prey as if I were Hannibal, acknowledging my vulnerability but admiring the warmth of death that I held in my metallic hands. Raising the shotgun to the back of his head, I fired. The Minmatar shrug off my first shot and begin to spin. I fired again, sliding left, already considering my getaway. The heavy opened fire before I was even sighted. With a quick instinctual selection, I cloaked, making a C like motion to round him and then I stopped.
Moments felt like hours as I sat crouched just 45 degrees, directly in front of him. You could sense his tension, his anger, and his skepticism as he scanned the area looking for that dirty rat who just shot him from behind. His death machine whined, firing into random sections of the map, looking for my presence. As much as my limbs wanted to run, I stood still and silent. It's moments like these when discipline matters greatly.
The Minmatar seemed to shrug and turned to sprint back up the inclined road. Maybe it was fear that drove him away? Maybe it was the same feeling teens get when they walk into an abandoned house and hear a strange noise?
No matter, my smile wiped away and I chased him. With a switch to my shotgun, decloaking in the process, I ended his misery.
It's that moment when I realized I will have great fun using my sneaking tactics to overcome the adversity on the field.
