My main fit is: Advanced Suit Basic Combat Rifle Basic Magsec 1 complex dmg mod 2 complex extenders 2 basic plates MLT (I think) nanohive (I should point out I have basically every core and important skill maxed) No real issues with it, performs just fine in most situations. I generally go 2 or 3+ KDR. I know that doesn't mean much but just trying to point out it is very viable in terms of combat. I'm not really taking advantage of the reload bonus, but the CR already loads pretty quickly. Also, I have some extra CPU/PG in my fit, but that's on purpose to save ISK. Personally, the way I like to look at the assault is that it's not really great at anything specific, but just decent at everything. But with enough player skill, it can come out on top is most situations.

It isn't bad at proto, but I find the advanced suit to lack quite a bit, especially since had Mini Assault as start of Uprising last year. I still think Caldari suits lack proper CPU to compete w/ amarr and galente; as you are required to run a CPU upgrade at later levels to run any type of "offensive" build. I'm a fan of most of the rail weapons, and after 1.8 hit I skilled into caldari so now I'm working on shield skills. The most OP weapon on the Dust Battle Field: One good logi, one rep tool, and a heavy.

Hardly ever ran the assault ck.o to begin with, basic gear works just fine for grinding pubs. Think i've been spending more time as assault than scout.
