The differance between how much isk the rich have and the kind of gear they can use versus how much isk and the kind of fits the average player has and can run is game breakingly great!!
We could almost use separate rooms for standard, advanced and proto players and a forth for everyone
Let the rich fight the rich and the rest of us can have fun and be happy |

While it would help rid a lot of stompers who rely on their gear, what about those people with genuine skill or at least maxed passives that just like to stomp. A squad of vets in ADV gear will still annihilate the players who are there because their gear forces them to be.
By SP wouldn't work either. Two players with 20mil SP. One is laser focused on a specific role, not deviating one iota from plan. The other likes to experiment and be a jack of all trades, SP spread thinly across a multitude of roles. Regardless of player skill, the former has a distinct advantage.
Yes matchmaking needs to be better. Doing it by gear or SP will present many of the same problems we have now, and the only way to counter will be when you unlock PRO tier. Of course by that point the ADV stompers will be the least of your worries, you're back on the bottom rung. |

You could matchmake by assets.
Add up the ISK in the wallet with the ISK value of the gear in inventory. Add a factor for the amount of ISK transferred in from other sources (such as the corp wallet). That will cover those who hide their assets, but still draw from them to buy stuff.
The idea is to separate those who are mega rich from the rest of the population. Those who could afford to throw away a dozen proto suits in a single match from those who scrimp and save.
Match the mega-rich against the mega-rich so everyone has the same level of perceived risk. |

I was in a PC corp, and I doubt I have much more ISK than the average player, although I probably do have a lot more than an average noob. |

I understand the reasons why we can't have rooms based on drop suit/equipment class.
But it would be nice to play some games where everyone has basic stuff running, if you tried to sneak a advanced or proto item on your drop suit it would turn red and you would be unable to use it.
It would all come down to skill and teamwork and the ability to learn the game on a more fun and affordable level |

It's as simple as balancing perceived risk.
Imagine a high limit poker game with average Joes when a couple high rollers sit in. The new players wouldn't have to be any better than the other guys to win because they could buy a pot or simply play hands that the rest wouldn't think of.
Now the normal guys are wondering if the high rollers have the cards or not. They can't bluff them and they are always worried the rich guys will just raise enough to steal the pot.
The regulars find the game stressful and no longer fun.
So they send the high rollers off to another game and resume their normal game. |

That's just it! The weak don't want to be farmed! It's not that people don't like getting killed, it's a part of the game. It's when your getting killed over & over in a fight you can't possibly win, and it's not because your a bad player but when your forced to run your weak gear and your fighting proto squads it just makes this game a unenjoyable experience.. |

Making ISK isn't difficult, it may be frustrating but it isn't difficult. The games enables anyone who is willing to run starter gear, it rewards them with ISK and better skill. A few hours a day for a few days of starter gear will make you a good bit of ISK.
Augmented starter fits are cheap and work well
With perfect armor skills a Gal starter with two enhanced plates and a complex plates has 653 armor at 4.47 m/s for 8,775 ISK two enhanced reactive and an enhanced plate has 471 armor, 2 HP/s at 4.75 m/s for 7,245 ISK two enhanced armor reps with a complex plate has 411 armor, 7.5 HP/s at 4.75m/s for 10,785 ISK

Even if I die over 20 times in a match, I'll still make ISK.
So where does that place me?
