So cloaks are a lot of fun, I think they add a new dynamic to gameplay and give Scouts a solid role on the battlefield. However I think many people agree that they may need a little tweaking, so I've been knocking these ideas around and I'd like to get your feedback.
The two largest issues I see people concerned about are thus:
- Scouts can fire their gun too quickly after decloaking.
- Scouts can re-cloak too quickly after de-cloaking without any delay.
Here are my ideas for how to address these issues, I'd love to hear your feedback but please keep it civilized. Constructive feedback only.
Issue 1 - Scouts can fire their gun too quickly after decloaking.
Solution - Add a short calibration delay after decloaking before weapons can be fired. This delay is at most a couple seconds, delay is decreased for Advanced and Proto, and delay is decreased via skills. I'll tentatively say 1-2 seconds before skills, but don't get too hung up on the absolute numbers.
Issue 2 - Scouts can re-cloak too quickly after de-cloaking.
Solution - Add a calibration delay after decloaking before cloak can re-engaged. This timer starts as soon as the cloak disengages and the delay decreases for Advanced & Proto cloaks, and can be further decreased via skills. I'll tentatively say 4-5 seconds before skills, but don't get too hung up on the absolute numbers.
Skill Changes - +5% Reduction to Cloak Field Calibration Delays per level.
Again please don't freak out and explode, I'm looking for a discussion and I'm willing to change my mind. I just want your guys' thoughts!

The delay from leaving cloak is alright, but entering cloak is not IMO.
Cloaks are to enter a favoable position without being biomassed, and for high-adrenaline escapes.
Currently leaving is just fine, it's the entering part that's broken. Shotty scout meets Ewar scout hunter around corner(me) i open fire, he dodges behind a null cannon and plays peekaboo or something, and instagibs my 200hp scout from complete safety.(might be RR at times, even met a Scr user)
Its the fact that finding a dampened, cloaked scout is definite death for anyone NOT wearing a proto tanked scout suit or who has Core locuses OR Freedom MD.
I refuse to gve honor to your 'god' so therefore i dual tank.
Also i feel itchy. Anybody got a tube of Rust-It?

My suggestion for the delay mostly stems from how I was using the cloak last night, killing one guy and instantly cloaking before his buddy could react. While I understand that these sort of stealth kills are part of the suit's role, I felt that the frequency in which I could cloak and decloak was too much of an advantage and that fleeing for a couple seconds to re-cloak behind cover would be more reasonable.
That being said, I'm more attached to the idea of a delay before firing than the delay before re-cloaking.
