Switching through equipment is really cumbersome; you have to press and hold a button and then navigate to the equipment using an analog stick, and the UI lags sometimes depending on lag. Switching weapons however is much easier though since one button can be used to cycle through them.
We need to be able to map controls to different buttons and to be able to also have a button to cycle through equipment (MAG had that). In addition to that, we need to be able to bind equipment and weapons to any of the available input buttons or button combinations. Not everyone is comfortable using the equipment wheel + melee buttons to bring up the squad command wheel.
Dust needs also to take into account how ofter we press the weapon cycle button as well as the weapon cycle button, so users can quickly switch to their desired weapon or equipment without waiting for Dust to cycle through the gear.
Doing these things listed above would make Dust 514 more accessible a larger group of people and let them personalize their controls, so that they can focus less on tolerating controls that they feel are unacceptable and focus more time on playing the game. This would also allow us to give the unused d-pad button on the DS3 and PS Move navigation controller some use.

I remember when controller mapping was a promised goal back in beta, now seems totally forgotten.

Your post is breaking rule 22 of the Dust 514 Forum Rules, Post constructively, so -1 to your post. If your wondering if it applies to this post too, it doesn't; this post points you (and maybe others) to the forums rules which is doing something constructive. |

I can't think of any reason why someone would not like customizable controls. If anyone can think of some, post it here. |

I don't see any problem with the now working mechanics for changing the item you character holds. If you have a problem with lag talk about lag fixing. All buttons have their role right now and i don't want to see a rotation button. And really how lazy are you wanting the game to figure out what you use most of the time to change the rotation to your convenience!!!! Just because you might not have a problem with how this game switches gear in combination with the other controls in one or all of the available control settings, doesn't mean that others would feel the same way too.
I did not ask for the game to figure out what you use most of the time to change the rotation to one's convenience, what I asked is for the game respond to the number of presses. For example, If I I'm holding an equipment and I want to switch to my sidearm, tapping the weapon switch button twice should switch to my sidearm instead of switching to my light weapon 1st then switch to my sidearm. If they added a mappable button to tap to switch equipment, tapping it twice should switch to the 2nd next equipment.
Even if you wouldn't benefit from being able to customize what each button on playstation move, keyboard, mouse, or DS3 controller does, why should it not be done when it would help lots of others and it wouldn't hurt you. |

I am all for:- Remappable controller-& keyboard keys.
- Configurable controller-& mouse acceleration.
- Configurable controller-& mouse smoothing.
- Just plain control over our controls. It is odd that we are able to pick and choose between suits/weapons/modules all while we can't change a single key function.
