now that 1.8 has dropped people think certain things are useless and wont pick them up again
at least 85% of these new scouts have no idea what scan and damp mods can do
I pick up so many cloakers with my dual complex precision
I feel if more people used the scanner in 1.8 it would counter most of these guys

No, the counter cloak would be an hologram, like from Total Recall. When activated, it would make a chevron appear in enemy maps as a decoy and of course, also an hologram of yourself. To make the illusion matter, let's say that it has its own HP so enemies can actually think they're shooting at a real player. But the giveaway is that your sights turn blue, not orange, when pointing at it. The hologram can shoot back when it but its shots will be just for show, they won't make any damage.
The hologram reduces your profile while activated so you can use it to flank people.

Ya know people brought up a good point about the scanners, up till 1.8 dropped i was always seing "you have been scanned" on my screen, now its super rare unless a tank or derpship is right next to me. |

I'd like to see a deployable piece of equipment that decloaks anything in a 15m radius until destroyed (low HPs). Make it look very different from hives so you can visually identify it.
Best PvE idea ever!

Scanners in 1.8 feel very different in operation than 1.7. I know what the patch notes said but, in practice, what are people finding?
The 360 spin move is no more and the scan execution feels more instantaneous than the 'wave' of scan energy that it felt like before. Also the 'wedge' or cone field that is the scanner's view feels very narrow ( much less than the 60 degree arc).
Does anyone know if the scanned arc moves at all when the scanner is activated and the merc rotates? Because when i use 1.8 scanners I fell like I see a 2 meter wide wedge out to 80 meters and that's it. Not enough to recon with |
