In Eve you are laughed upon if you compile useless fits and lose your ship. In Dust, theorycrafting good fits should be embraced by the community. My guess is that the average age of Dust players is much lower than in EVE. The true hardcore mentality from back in the day doesn't exist as much here (at least not in general discussion). It makes me kind of sad. Drop it like its hat. I´m a fat scout. Do you even lift bro?

The only exception to that rule at the moment happens to be the Amarr scout which seems to be the Forrest Gump of the scout lineup but even then the Minmatar scout marginalizes that role already. Fact remains you can't "balance" a game while still being able to cross over roles so much. Dust is tailored for the "kiddos" though. It makes me kind of sad. 15-25 aren't gong to play a subscription based game when new game models are focused on free to play (LoL in particular is the best example). I don't even think dust appeals to most kids, it's too slow to pick up and play while its counterparts provide more game modes, more rewards (kids like quick rewards), and less investment into a game (as you mentioned hardcore players). Ive never once heard any kids I've taught talks about dust in the last two years. Instead they play FIFA and Madden and NHL and CoD. Games which are pick up and play and don't punish you fast much as dust's new player experience does. Yes dark souls 2 is a punishing and very popular game, but its difficulty it is no where close to making a char and joining a lobby to see elite squads are waiting to spawn trap you. There's a difference, one outcome can be overcome in a few hours while competitions in dust is a 12-16 month thing. Not immediate, not going to have kids either.

Dark Souls have exactly the same "problems" as we are seeing here since the beginning of logi slayers. People create great PvP builds that overpower others. And those builds generate tears.
