1.6 was a lot smoother in terms of balance, and now this game is a circus. You removed and severely altered vehicle mods in 1.7, and now the tanks are just ... well, look at them .. no idiot on earth that plays this game, could argue tanks are not broken. But instead of fixing that monumental problem, you just seem to let us fester in it for a couple months and then release new suits and stuff... which is great sure, but in my very honest opinion, its bad prioritizing.
fix tanks and all the major issues just now... then focus on new content. release new content > balance content > release new content > balance content. why is it so difficult. If you have a calculator and a couple of hours, i bet you could very easily balance this game. just throwing more content at it, is currently just increasing the huge fuzzy ball of maths that is required to balance this game.
I think there may be serious flaws within the communications of CCP. You say you have various departments working on different areas of the game, which is fine. But if you dont bind together as one unit and create a balance game, and more importantly work out the numbers and keep the game simple, the game will be unfair, unattractive, and will eventually fail. I cannot see any other way around it.
CCP, i just personally want to know what you're doing right now. I like this game, it has potential, but what youve released has had some major flaws in it so far. That means something isnt working, and only you can make it work... |

Here's an idea;
Balance all weapons to do exactly the same amount of damage except for the heavy weapons (because obviously heavy weapons should do more damage) and the sniper rifle (because lets go ahead and agree that sniping weapons do and should inflict heavier amounts of damage)
Create a base:
Militia/Standard: 2HP per bullet (36 bullets in a clip do 72hp damage)
Advanced: 5HP per bullet (36 bullets in a clip do 180hp damage)
Prototype: 8HP per bullet (36 bullets in a clip do 288hp damage)
Officer: 10HP per bullet (36 bullets in a clip do 360hp damage)
Scrambler Rifle/Pistol, Rail Rifle, Combat Rifle, SMG, ect....all the same
Say heavy weapons do:
Mil/STD: 3HP Advanced: 6HP Proto: 9HP Officer: 12HP
Officer weapons would obviously be king...plus this would give clip ammo SP / leveling a SERIOUSLY important factor. Want to do more damage? Pack more bullets.
Damage Mod? Sure. ONE per suit. ONE. ONE. ONE. ONE.
Specfic spot ON SUIT for damage mod.
STD: +0.3 HP per bullet x 36 bullets = 10.8 more HP per clip ADV: +0.6 HP per bullet x 36 bullets = 21.6 more HP per clip PRO: +1.0HP per bullet x 36 bullets = 36 more HP per clip
Again, incentive to INCREASE clip size.
This would balance out the TTK, because everyone would be at the same level except for what choices they made. The skill tree would matter, the RPG element would matter, teamwork would become essential for killing a heavy and you wouldn't be able to be killed on 0.5-1.5 seconds WHICH IS RIDICULOUS!! |
