So, I took three of the four heavies (have yet to try the Amarr heavy) to the field.
I was using the Minmatar with a complex kin cat on.
I sprinted my way to the objective since a minnie heavy with a complex kin cat on is faster than my assault, so no need for my LAV (COUGH COUGH CCP), and I ran out of stamina. Knowing how it was like pre 1.7, I expected for a pretty long downtime before I can sprint again.
Suddenly it's already backup. Dat stamina regen is awesome
I can practically sprint all day with that thing. A heavy. Sprinting all day. Without a single cardiac reg.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

Dancing Heavies are a wonderful thing. When you sprint in under somebody's grenade and go sideways to light up the side of their dome piece, it's just beautiful. A lot of people think Heavies just have to stand still and mow. But everybody else being bricked now makes it easy to close distance and put that HMG right up their ass, where it's at its optimal.

Matari stamina regen is off da hook and as hello kitty said, you don't even need a card reg...but if you use one...good grief...I can sprint for about 50 seconds and it recharges in 3-4 seconds on my scout. Look forward to speccing into the heavy one day but probably after logi.

I love the fact the Min can do that but the Armarr has the highest stamina of all the heavies. I love my Armarr heavy and after 1.8 IMO is the best heavy or it is ties with Gal Heavy which I will have proto by next week. So I will have 2 proto heavies, 1 proto scout, and I am now working on my proto commando. |

Well, I don't think it sucks, but I don't prefer the Minmatar heavies over the others. Its hitbox is bigger than a typical assault suit, and it doesn't get the weapon bonuses that the Assault suit would. What you should really do is run that militia heavy suit back-to-back with a true Minmatar assault suit. You'll get a hacking bonus and better "life" out of your weapons. The speed, though, is addictive. But then again, Amarr have high base stamina and regen; it's one of the racial attributes. Minmatar run faster, Amarr run longer.

Two things Cat_Derp
A: HMG does not have 900dps, a Boundless is 792, MH-82 is 756, basic HMG is 720. None of these translate to 900 in any system of math.
2: HMG paper DPS is in no way, shape, or form applicable in the real world unless your target is another heavy politely standing still 4m in front of you. Two words: Dispersion and overheat. Cut the DPS by 1/3 to 3/4 depending on range at any range above 10m and you've got a truer idea of HMG DPS output.

DPS and tank are so fundamental. It irritated me that bricked Mediums with there mobility/HP made better Heavies than the Sentinels for most of Uprising.
In 1.7 HAVs got a mobility boost. I like pretend all Infantry got it in 1.8 as well.

Good cheap Min-heavy that I've been using. Works great when run with a squad who sticks together and watches your back. Ya know..... a proper squad:
Militia Minmatar Heavy Frame 'Steelmine' Boundless HMG (from last event) Syndicate SMG Blueprint Grenade Enhanced Kin Cat Enhanced Shield Energizer
Been running this all day, have not lost more than 4 in a match (have been running 50/50 ambush/skirmish). Could easily substitute the Boundless for a basic as the damage difference isn't that large, just using the 'Steelmine' to get them used up and out of my inventory, I hate having spare AUR items laying around in there taking up space.

I think when it comes down to it, Amarr Sentinel is still the very best at what Heavy has been all about up until 1.8:
Being a big ass lethal road block that mercilessly strangles choke points to death.
Gallente is arguably a very effective big ass lethal road block too, but its great bonuses and tons of low slots means you can fit it as an uber-repping medium suit killer, or a bizarre speed fit.
Caldari and Minmatar Sentinels are their own animals though, and lend themselves to different playstyles than what all us dedicated fatties have been used to. It's going to be interesting figuring it all out.
ED: I will add, Minmatar is my new favorite Forge Gunning frame. Tanks are squirrelly after the first shot, and the speed helps in hunting them down. I also found a way to fit 2x Complex Damage Mods and an AFG on the standard Sentinel M-1, so it's a relatively cheap AV killer. (56k)
Now if only Forge Guns worked properly...

2: HMG paper DPS is very close to the real world, considering how fast I shred things. I easily apply 550-600 DPS out at 10-15 meters, and all of that in a large cone of fire, which means less skill to apply around 1.75x the DPS of rifles.
