I'm honestly not sure. I've already read quite a bit of QQ, most of it focused on cloaks, and so far, I'm undecided. 1.8 has brought three fun little guns and the cloaks, along with numerous buffs and nerfs, so I definitely have to give CCP credit. It's been entertaining and the new toys are cool. Kudos for giving a dropsuit command respec as well.
So, the good I can see... The new weapons are definitely fun. Sure, they're not that good, but they look awesome enough to make up for it. I actually kind of like the way the Ion Pistol feels, and the Magsec is awesome, both in looks and functionality. It's just a shame it completely destroys all reason to use the Breach SMG... I do wish the Ion Pistol functioned more like the plasma pistol from Halo though. The current system of firing a single charged shot and immediately overheating kind of kills the weapon's most unique feature. Shame too, as this gun has a lot of potential...
Scrambler pistols are.... surprisingly, still... viable... I think... I know they got range and ammo buffs to try and balance them out. I'll admit, I feel a tad silly for buying 150 Carthums on the possibility that the assault variants would be removed from the marketplace.
Cloaks are... well... this is really what leaves me uncertain as to whether I want to praise this patch or rage at it. I'm loving the way cloaks function, it's everything I dreamed... problem is, everyone else seems to think the same thing. What with the cloaks and the massive scout buffs, it seems like everyone and their mother are now jumping onto the scout bandwagon. I certainly won't QQ about the cloaks, but I never thought getting so many buffs would make it so much harder to play. I've been having a much more difficult time since logging on this morning actually doing good in games, whereas before, I could usually go 20/1 on average with my scout, now I'm having trouble just keeping positive. I can't tell if this is because everyone is using scouts and thus I can no longer scan half the suits on the field with my passives, or if everyone is just so jumpy now because of cloak that they've actually managed to evolve, growing eyes with 20/20 vision. I've still seen a few people trying to scan, but holy crap... the sightless cherries... they're evolving! They can see me now!
All that aside, it's definitely fun running at the max speed on my minmatar scout. Speed tanking actually seems to be viable with the reduced TTK, or maybe it's just the 11+MPS I'm now pulling...
The only major downside I can see to this patch are the slurry of bugs brought on by the release. I've never even seen this many glitches in a Bethesda game before... hopefully CCP patches these quickly, as they're definitely hurting a lot of the rolls.
I can't help but get the feeling that CCP will nerf cloaks. It's just this inkling suspicion in the back of my mind...
Tanks... they still exist, but it's a two way street. I'm still seeing them, but at least for now, their numbers are severely diminished in most cases. People are having too much fun to get into them, thanks again, CCP! And I'm certainly not missing seeing five tanks in every single game.
All in all, I'm definitely liking the patch, but it still brings a lot of uncertainties to the game for me. I'm glad to see the tank spam reduced for now, yet having everyone suddenly jump on the scout bandwagon makes me a bit sad. The bugs are definitely hurting things, the new TTK's are nice, and I'm enjoying my scout buffs. That extra slot has definitely been useful, along with everything else.
... I really shouldn't be writing things at 2am... stupid random ramblings
I'm curious as to what others think of this patch though. Scouts, heavies, logis, former unicorns... you guys have all gotten a decent change. What are the opinions? Like it, hate it? Will the novelty of cloaks wear off, or are they going to stay solid? Are you going to miss being relatively unique in your choice of suits? Anyone wet themselves as a scout uncloaked in front of them with a shotgun?

Cloaks, yeah... needs more shimmer effect when they are on the move (more the faster they move preferably), other than that I have no problem with it.
New guns, haven't tried any.
As far as game, playability and fun factor goes, the game is on the right track, but why did they have to use Stephensons Rocket? This game needs to be ported to PS4 ASAP for the dual effect of a "new" launch (= more players) and to fix what they cannot fix due to the limitations of the PS3 system.
I keep repeating myself on this point, but I do believe it's the only way Dust will survive and actually be FUN. |

The lighting definitely seems to make a difference. The most annoying part of it though is that snipers still seem to be able to see you just fine. That was my biggest hope for the cloak, that I'd be able to use it to cover large stretches of ground, yet I'm still finding myself getting picked off by the things, even when moving around the out edges of the map.
You really should though. The magsec is pretty entertaining, and the Ion pistol is quite fun as well. Just pump 36K SP into the three basic levels and test em out to see if any of them grab your fancy.
And I really can't agree with you enough there. I'd love to see this game ported to the PS4 and I can't help but think it's odd that CCP doesn't seem that interested in doing so.
