So this isn't another raaaaaaaaaaaage thread about cloaks. I enjoy the cloaks, I think they're fantastic, you cannot hold your gun while cloaked (No cloaked sniping! That was my biggest concern coming into 1.8) and you can still see a scout running while cloaked. That being said though, there is a very real issue with Scouts camping Null Cannons and CRU's while cloaked.
Noe I'm a scout, been one for many moons now, so I'm not a medium frame or heavy raging but when a scout is standing stock still they are incredibly hard to spot (That is alright in my book, I dig it), Scouts abuse that power though by camping NULL Cannons and CRU's though. I was in countless games last night where I was popped execution style by a cloaked scout camping a CRU or NULL cannon. Now I run an Adv Min most games (I don't see the need for Min Proto with better scouts out there now) with proto hacking, so I can get through a NULL cannon in seconds but one shot by a shotgun and I'm dead. If you cloak with a Proto shotgun and nothing else then you'll take out waves of reds as they're trying to hack.
Now I think the cloak is balanced and done really well to an extent but it does encourage EXTREME camping for those who just want to pad their K/D or just plain suck. There needs to be a counter against this though
There needs to be some sort of mechanic that discourages camping be it a nerf to cloaks in some way or an added feature to spot camping scouts.
What if there was some sort of EMP blast that you could activate at NULL cannons which deactivated cloaks in a small radius (Not shields, just cloaks)? Or somehow nerf the damage of the first few shots fired by a cloaked scout giving the person hacking some time to take out his weapon and at least try and fight back?
I love cloaks and they've really made Scouts that ninja recon style that CCP have stated in the description of all cloak suites, but camping installations with a CreoDron shotgun just waiting for suckers to pull up is just annoying as ****. |

I said this pre 1.8, but if cloaks become a problem, treat your weapon like the old scanner and do a 360 whilst holding down the trigger. If at objectives, treat the objective the same way you would if you suspected REs were placed: by spamming nades. |

The only problem is that Scouts don't camp on the NULL Cannon itself, but behind a box or just out in the open but a far enough away that nade spam or doing a 360 just doesn't work.

This was predictable and probably intended by CCP to cut down on the ninja hacking that creates the merry go round effect of capping the objectives with both teams just riding or running around and around and back and forth trying to keep them capped.
Now it takes teams to do it and can have scouts and heavies to defend it.

Just curious.
What does a Flux Grenade do to a cloaked target?
Also, wasn't that something Scanners were meant to counter? |
