Try a sniper rifle and a CR combo with RE's as well. you can duck behind and to the side of firefights and merc ppl with the thales, then throw down a re in front of you a ways and by the time they turn to engage you they can run over your re's and get exploded. Also flank sniping will leave you less exposed to squad groups like the knives will. or try a sniper/knife combo. that way no matter they dynamics of the firefight you can be effective.
