How terrible the Ion Pistol is but god damn. Yet to kill someone with, mainly because even scouts have more HP than damage in the mag. Even a partial charge seizes the gun up, so if you aren't careful you lose. Scrambler still hits harder and at a longer range, same with the bolt. It's dispersion is pretty bad, but counter-able. It just doesn't have the DPS or total damage to compete with any other sidearm. How this went through testing is beyond me. |

The AR's variants, the Shotgun, the PLC, and now the ion Cannon. Are weapons seem pretty broken right now compared to the other races who weapons are working as intended.

I just killed an Amarr Sentinel with an Ion Pistol. First, I worked him down to about 5% armor using a Rail Rifle. Then, while he was reloading, I jumped down, got in his face and unloaded an entire clip into him.
This was just for comedic value. The weapon itself is garbage.

Indeed. I tested out the ion pistol and, as expected, the only kills I got with it were from shooting near-death enemies or hitting oblivious MLT suits in the face with a charge shot.
I'm definitely sticking with my ScP. More damage per shot, negligible RoF difference (with the AScP, at least) and, whether it's intended or not, my AScP has 13 shots per mag for some reason. (CCP may want to take a look at that. It used to have 11.) |
