A couple of us in my corp were discussing snipers in 1.8 and I never realized the scan range doesn't affect snipers because it's not large enough of a radius.
But then someone said when you're looking down the scope of a SR, and you're looking for a countersniper they will light up as a red hash mark when they're inside your field of view.
Is this true? Does scan precision affect a sniper scope?
Also don't turn this into another QQing thread about "I can't 3 shot heavies anymore they nerfed it dust is broken waahhh"

In my experience, (though it could be out of date since I've hardly sniped since Chromosome) scan precision means nothing to the sniper scope- that's all about direct Line-Of-Sight lighting players up.
That's how it used to function at least, and the few times I've picked up a SR since haven't seemed any different to my earlier experiences in that respect.

Even if it does, it's not really needed.
If anything, scan radius would be more important for that.

Non scout snipers light up if your dot is near whether you're sniping or not. Also if they're not using dampners.
Scout snipers only light up if you're aiming at them for the most part.

In that case, Gallente will still be the best sniper, but Minmatar will be just as good if you're not paranoid about being knifed in the back.

It doesn't have any effect on weapons at all, just passive scan. If the enemy isn't in range of your suits scan range it doesn't do you any good. They more than likely caught the enemy when they weren't fully behind cover and just simply lit up.
I don't always win 1v1 but... when I don't, I cry for nerfs. Stay nerfing my friends.

Minmatar mk.0 Logistics. 1x Complex precision enhancer, 1 x Complex range extension, 1 x Complex cloak, CPU Enhancer. Just waiting on the Minmatar precision explosive bi-pod over the horizon Sniper rifle. Ohh and prone.

Didn't I say to avoid the sniper nerf QQing please? I knew I was right, that you guys were whining for nothing, because I pulled out my Covenant and wrecked things just as easily as usual. Same with my Toxin AR.
Anyway I'd say for a sniper rifle you'll still want 2 damage mods. Unless you want to shield tank to avoid being countersniped which isn't a bad idea.
