Sniper Rifles should be like cloaks. Someone sniping from a distance should be vulnerable to OHK or near OHK.
Tanked logies and heavies should not be able to snipe with impunity, especially from the redline with a thales and damage mods without any real sacrifice.
Its a bit ridiculous to be honest.

I agree 100% and find this a most excellent suggestion. The risk/reward is out-of-wack for sniping. I'm sure that's part of the appeal but snipers should be better balanced, either by decreasing awards or increasing risk (or some degree of both).

they could just remove the suicide part of the timer and replace it with a 0 warpoint penalty
I could give you 10 reason why the Dust team cant get the Amarr tank style right but they are all out of care.

this suggestion could have a ripple effect elsewhere in the game.. what if your not sniping in the redline but commando cqb sniping as part of a squad? still OHK?

Snipers have scope sway. And clones have different size hands.
So have scope sway based on suit size. Lights have the least sway, heavies the most. The skill still reduces sway, but o my lights can take full advantage of this. Then a heavy with a sniper will never have a completely still scope, leading people to fitting snipers to lighter suits to get better shots.
Best PVE idea I've seen.

I haven't seen this type of sniping in a very long time. Mostly due to the fact that Thales and Charge SRs are the only effective SRs at this point. People don't want to risk losing a Thales to be anywhere but the redline, and the extra zoom doesn't lend itself to this either. With the charge, it takes too much time to charge it to be as effective.
I don't think anyone should should be OHK or near it in this situation, but I cannot even remember the last time this was a viable sniping tactic (beta maybe? pre 1.4?) and have not heard any reports that this is still in use.
Perhaps they could simply make the std and adv, and ishukune (sp?) cpu/pg such that those could be used in this environment. I have only ever seen Charge SRs and Thales used in the redline so those need much bigger fitting costs (assuming scout bonus to enable true countersniping).

I can see this totally working as well. Anything to fix the inability to countersnipe effectively.
