It works, and the attacker gets no WP or kills. Large risk, no direct reward, requires sacrifice, makes it legit in my eyes. And yes, I do it.

True, but it's also not an instakill in that game. Btw, does that change it? Dropships ramming wasn't an instakill, would it still be a scrub tactic?

I can avoid militia ships in my ADS, so they have to be pretty good to make it work.
I'd say the folks who call in a free LAV hoping to get the RDV to ram me are more guilty.

Collision damage is borked. Ramming should not be very effective.

I can take two large railgun rounds designed to kill me and coming in at fantastic speed, yet a low speed bump or brush against a wall will instantly collapse my shields and annihilate my armor.

Dropship ramming used to be all the rage back in Beta when you had access to free dropships. People would kamikaze you right and left. Doesn't happen as much anymore obviously because people don't want to waste the ISK. That said if an ADS was really REALLY pissing me off I wouldn't hesitate to ram its ass with a militia dropship just to watch them bleed out half a million ISK.

I had a battle with a viper yesterday(i was in a Myron) . It started with each of us having a gunner. My gunner killed his gunner, due to my advanced missiles. Instead of pulling back, he then decided to follow me around the map, trying to ram me. The only reason I survived the encounter is because I flew through a city and he died trying to follow me. He respawns.... and pulls out a rail tank and instapops me.... really?

Imo it's legit if you surive it and you risk pretty much the same or more as the one you are ramming.

If you are just MLT ramming ADSes down from the skies then that's scrubby tactic.

There is no such thing as a scrubby way to get rid of a tank or ADS, whatever it takes, just KILL it.

Lol, I've been rammed by incubi, and due to their billions of isk, they just pull out another one I wish, Dropship pilots are the most broke people I know in Dust, I hoard a couple mil, then buy a few Dropships and I'm broke again. We keep bringing them out because we're addicted.

And yes, ramming is a cheap tactic, but it's very challenging with a DS so I don't get too butt hurt about it. Sometimes it's hilarious when people try too. My gunner and I once shot down a guys DS 3 times, then he tried ramming my Incubus, killed his DS but I got away with 2 ticks of armor...hilarious!
