Scout suits are good for safer overhead map viewing / orbital bombardment and with the cloak implementation it's going to be even better. What do you think? Try and keep it simple. |

So maybe a scout sniper would be best? Safe from scans and able to view the battlefield through a scope, but low ehp makes it prone to counter snipers. Very interesting. |

You make an excellent point. Having an extra orbital or two might be more important than overhead tactics. |

Personally I feel assaults with uplinks are the better choice for squad leader. Snipers are too niche, can be too far from the front to make the right call. Logi can have their hands full with logibro work when the squad leader needs to appraise the situation and make the call. Heavies can be similar to the sniper, in a niche role, as well as being ewar ********. Scout could work with their sensor strengths, but they can be so squishy.
And this is how I determined assault fits for the job. Uplinks so you can place it exactly when you need it.

A sniper would be good for a squad leader role. As Satori above mentioned, yoy have the best overview of the map to guide your squad in, and you take out any other countersnipers harrassing your team. With your good vantage point you have better knowledge of where exactly to call an OB.
And on the subject of cloaks, I wonder if you can call in an orbital while cloaked? You'd still have your cloak equipment selected, so I would assume you can do that. It would be great to making sure you're not killed while you're calling an OB, even 30 seconds is more than enough for such a thing.

Brick tanked scout with STD or ADV cloak for calling in orbitals. ~900eHP, low scan signature and cloak for pulling up the map as needed.

I'll have to agree with dent 308 on this, assault is the best squad lead you can have.

This might be the strongest argument. Cloaked orbitals with 900eHp and a low profile signature. Very convincing. |

Indeed tactical positioning of uplinks affects the game more then other styles as you can move whole team and not just a squad. Which I do successfully for last few month, assaulting with uplinks, plus it brings WP.

One could argue that a scout can place better uplinks. |
