Chrome: If you didn't have every damn skill point you made in tanks, then you were useless...but if you did spec properly, you were god mode and a legend among men...until an ishukone forge showed up and you were on your cooldown cycle. Money was hard to make but if you were really really good then it was possible. AV/HAV/Grunt balance was good but redline tanks were a big problem and getting into tanking was impossible after March 2013. The disparity between vet tanks and noob tanks was too much, even for my tastes. Too much of an SP sink, but pretty good IMO
1.0-1.6: Didn't matter how good you were; without being a god-mode tanker in a very rich corp, you were going broke. Skill rework put noob tankers and vets on a similar level, but vets still did shine. The inherent weakness vs AV was okay if you were skilled, but the prices were prohibitive.
1.7: sica > sagaris / soma > surya. any noob can dominate. it's the worst build evarrr.

in chrome i barely put points into tanks but i was a nightmare to fight against :P
i wasnt a redline tanker, i was a mountain tanker, fighting on the sidelines of the battlefield and climbing slopes on every map for positional advantage.
i have never had a proto railgun, i used an ADV compressed with 2 damage mods and a buffer fit on my tank with 2x complex extenders and a 15% resist module with passive resists maxed out on a gunnlogi.
i had barely 4 mil spent on tanks and made isk hand over foot killing suryas and sags whooversteped their positions, got 50+kill games and multi-solo orbital games...
then uprising hit and i dropped tanks due to the many many many many many bugs that prevailed and aside from rendering still havnt been fixed. |

I miss the old days of chrom, the real tank fights took place before uprising hit. after that it was all down hill.
