Completely disagree. Up links are about the only way to get your team out of a trap or and the best way to get distance to call in vehicles. You think smart deploy is smart? I agree though that most the up links I see are people just dropping them at their feet when they spawn in.

People are still playing Tankbush?
I only play that garbage when the squad leader pulls me into them. They aren't half bad when you're in the squad/team calling in all the HAVs. I'll jump in my LAV and Murder Taxi 1.0 all the swarm launcher scrubs who try to fight back. The kitten trails are like notifications for easy +50 buffets. What are they going to do, pull a Sidearm on me? I used to almost exclusively run FG/SMG so this dance is old-hat for vets.
Although I have to give the iron-balls diehards who stay SL and on-target while I kill them credit. They're dead anyways so it's pretty heroic to at least discourage my HAV brethren.
Uplinks are even better. I'll camp them. Get in a crouch and aim ten or so meters away. Anyone not bricked is dead. I should feel bad but this is New Eden, if someone else isn't bleeding or crying you're doing it wrong.
Ambush is a joke.

i hate running ambush for this reason. someone places in uplink down at a location and a few minutes later that location is being overwhelmed with the enemy. if its the only uplink around, you will spawn there, even if you smart deploy. either no one brings uplinks or everyone bring uplinks. its painful to spawn at the same location, even when you're not trying too.

I see people saying that when there is one Uplink on the battlefield in Ambush, Smart Deploy spawns you on it. The thing is this has literally never happened to me.
If there is a single Uplink and I hit Smart Deploy, the spawn timer does display on the Uplink's location, but I never actually spawn directly on it and sometimes spawn pretty far away from it.

Not that I ever really play ambush, but I've found the best way to stop an uplink getting you farmed is to place a better one or three for that matter.
CCP you better nail 1.8, as it stands 1.7 is a total disaster.

It isn't the guy with the links. It is all the other fools who don't drop links. With no links you get farmed anyway when they find your spawn point.
That being said, if there isn't already links on the field and you don't have the advanced or above links that allow for more than one link at a time then wait until someone else drops one first.

Uplinks in ambush have to exist. 100% have to exist. That being said, some people put uplinks in the most effed up spots.
To the bush haters. I love playing ambush. Most WP/ISK per hour out of any game mode if you play correctly. In addition, if you want to try out a new weapon and you're like me and able to start diversifying a bit (just broke 13.5 mil SP) then it's the fastest way to understand the pros and cons of your weapon selection.
I pretty much NEVER run any AV fits in bush simply b/c it's pointless. If you are running AV it's b/c you don't have any HAV's on your side or ADS's that can help beat enemy vehicles. What are SL gonna do without support? I have far more success shooting people out of their LAV's then I do with SL and nades in ambush.

First stay out of Ambush it is not worth your time or unneeded stress.
Second I play Dom most of the time and I can agree partly on what you was trying to convey in your post. What needs to be taught is the best places to lay your uplink for maximum effect. I will give an example where I lay mine. I lay mine a short distance from the objective in a safe spawn area, so when the clone does spawn in the will they will have the best chance of survival and able to survey there surroundings. Do not move when you spawn in, wait to see what is near you and if you are surrounded pick a target and die with honor. |

If you use the map before you spawn, zoom in you can tell if is safe to spawn.

Your substandard perception and understanding of the game will prevent you from killing me with anything other than a tank. Also shaming comando suits as a tanker is substandard and misconcieved. As for the rest of it.....its logically equivalent to call tanking the same as infantry. Aiming, positioning, module choice, team work, etc..... all of it the same.... I just have 3000 more HP than you and cost about 3-5x the amount of your suit.

Deploy uplinks smartly
think about what the objective is, deploy around it- not always on it.
If you make a bad deploy fix it! Don't just leave it!
Keep aware of what is going on around your uplinks.
I have deployed thinking it was good and then see it is bad for whatever reason( people stuck in hole, enemy kill farming, etc), I redeploy the link somewhere else (this removes the original one and moves it to the new location. Yes you need to do the same uplink type to do this) and save my team the headache. It is better for me to attack, kill someone and weaken others and die so I can respawn and redeploy links, than for my team to lose 10 clones on a bad deployment.
If you run uplinks then be responsible for them! |

Uhhh, My proto suit costs over 300k, are you saying that your tank costs 900k-1.5m?
My tank only costs me a little over 120K.

How do you not have trouble with smart deploy? I get spawned in the middle of the enemy a solid 50% of the time. I have even been spawned right on top of enemy links.. While a squad was spawing in on it..
But yes the links are often just put down for farming wp. |

My Soma's used to.
Now my HAV cost around about 500+ ISK depending on what I fit. Definately more when I develop my Small Turret Skills out.
200K ISK frame

On another note, a good spread of uplinks all over the map helps when your team is getting farmed due to bad spawn mechanics.
I've been told that people prefer fake smiles over the honest expressions of their fellow men. : )

First off PLAYER I dont get my team killed farming points with links and needles. Secondly what most clowns do in a tank I can do in an adv suit. The real mecanic is the infantry. when you fail there you jump in a vehicles or farm noobs. Also I being known means almost nothing in these games. I run solo, no aa, no vehicles, no proto, no corps and no squads or ob's and almost always place top 5 in game. Im not great but my game is solid. Also respect is the concern of a social climber. I dont do that.
And lastly ANYONE who thinks getting women is hard is either ugly or compensating for poor physical stature.

In the beginning of Ambush, I immediately run in a random direction and start putting droplinks spread out around the map to prevent being locked down in one spot and depending on "Dumb Deploy" so anyone whom doesn't like that can chew nails and sh!t nickels, literally. You can use a drop link you see or use the "Dumb Deploy"

I spam uplinks. A lot of uplinks.
I use them before I get in my dropship. I drop them when I get scared or I'm being shot.
Sometimes I confuse them for proxies and throw them under tanks.
Some games I just sit in the mountains in a pile of them.
I put them on rooftops. I don't even bother getting rid of the enemy ones. I just like the way they look.
If you pile enough blue and red uplinks together you get a chance of a purple uplink forming. Only Amarrian's dressed in drag can spawn from these.
It's a problem I know, but I''m not ready to quit, and if you loved me you wouldn't ask me to.
We can pickle that.

But I always strategically place two of them, relatively distant from each other. that way they are less likely to be in a cluster of others, and camping both does not happen as easily.
Never will you find a perfect solution, but you can mitigate circumstances decently.

Stop spawning on camped equipment. All equipment and installations have passive scans that show up for the whole team. You can tell if there are reds near it.

Since Ambush is generally ********, I shall immediately ramp up my droplink-deploying, when-and-if pulled into an Ambush match.

But yes, there are uplinks that are dropped in ambush casually as if the reds won't scan the area, find the spawn point, and proceed to mow down players that spawn into hell's pot roast.
I have been in matches where a uplink can help turn things around
And then there's those matches where spawning on uplinks is certain death. It's a coin toss...
