I would like to thank you for putting us, once more, at such a huge advantage over the lowly noobs and their 1-2 proto weapons and 1 suit.
We vets have at least 2 proto suits, maxed cores, likely 3-4 proto weapons, AND tanks or dropships at our disposal.
We are un-nerfable and we realize that you realize this. We appreciate you keeping the noobs down by forcing them to stay in their same under-powered fittings.
To all the noobs:
It sucks to be you. When My RR and CR are nerfed, and my Cal assault and logi suits roles are switched, I'll still be just as pubstompy as ever thanks to 2 suits that are prototype, my 300 mil ISK (on a bad day), and my proto SMG and Mass Driver...not to mention ridiculously overpowered tanks that are nigh unkillable by anyone who hasn't been tanking for the last year, straight.
Remember there is nothing you can do. There is no respec; there is no hope. Just sit back and watch the vets stomp all over you with our unn-nerfable powers. Why bother worrying about being FOTM when I already have it no matter what changes come? :P
I am OP because I've been here. This is my joy; seeing you suffer.
Try and counter my; I dare you...with your 1 decent fitting....hahaha! I have more than I could possibly need!
I also heard I'm getting a free 1,000,000 SP for doing basically nothing; I think I'll spend it on the magsec...just for lolz because, you know, I already have everything I could ever want Twisted
One more thought: nerf shields? I have maxed armor, too. Nerf damage mods? I already maxed shields. Nerf tank modules in general? Biotics 5. Nerf assaults, heavies, and logis? My alt has a proto scout, shotgun, and knives...+Duvolle. Nerf infantry all over? Tanks, babe. Nerf tanks? I have 2 proto suits and 4 proto weapons. Nerf snipers? Don't care, I have rails. Nerf rails? Got blasters. I am god mode. This system you set up is perfect. All I had to do is wait a year and I have become God Mode vs these weak noobs. Here is something I found from this use it becasue it kinda shows how dust 514 is and why there is no balanced player base: Quote: #24 Posted: 2014.03.23 20:11 | Report Unlike 1 Maken Tosch wrote: Don't forget that we just got rewarded an extra 2 million SP for free (3 million if you had the omega booster) during the million clone challenge and now after 1.8 we'll be getting an extra 750,000 SP (starting at 1,000 SP per kill) during this coming event. A lot of us were also smart enough to squirrel away already at least 4 million SP before the refund.
Were you able to " squirrel away " skill points because you are content with the place you are at the present ???
Most are not and if you have been playing since the beginning and you are against SP's being refunded then you are one who is afraid of competition and are an elitist and afraid of those who are under you rising to the top . I have looked at the respect thread and seen how in the beginning SP's flowed like water and most reaped the benefit . You were able to learn what was important and how to use skill points even when making mistakes but now it's not the same .
Newer players should be given the chance to maximize their SP's and in order to do that a infantry refund is in order .

A infantry refund is only right and fair . Newer players must be given the chance that those who have been here from the beginning have had .
It's only right and fair . After that do what you will .
If I could have played as a Caldari Heavy with a RR , with the 1.8 bonuses or any other role for that matter from the beginning that I played 5 to 6 months ago then I wouldn't mind and I would chalk it up to making mistakes but adding new content , changes in bonuses , how weapons will work on the battlefield threw damage mod changes as well as suit bonuses .. changes how this game will be played .
Such drastic changes deserve a chance given to those who play to administer their SP's as needed and seen fit .
Read the respec thread where players who have been playing from the start use to have SP's thrown at them plentifully , so they were allowed to make mistakes and now sit on a large mound of unallocated SP's . I don't want their SP's ( or others thrown at me like the 2 million that we just acquired because that would not negate those that I have locked into useless items and roles ) but I would like to place the ones that I have worked for placed onto area's that allow me to maximize my role and provide the best support for my team mates that is possible .
Not having a full infantry refund does not allow that to happen .

Weapons and equipment are getting balananced - No refund New items being introduced - No refund
What does get refunds:
-Skill multiplier being changed (Happened when they reduced the cost of dropsuits, reload skils, etc) -When a major release comes out and they literally change everything you knew about the game, reset your stats, and refunded all your isk items (This is the ONLY time they ever give out RESPECs, anything else is just a partial refund of skill points) -Completely changing certain items in the game to act and preform differently (i.e. tank update) __________________________________________________
The only things that warrant a refund are the Sentinel, Commando, and Scout dropsuits. They aren't just rebalancing them by changing skills or whatever, they literallly added a ton more racial variants AND changed up the stats drastically for each one. CCP was nice enough to just give us a refund of our entire dropsuit command skill tree.
However, nothing in dropsuit upgrades is getting a massive change. If your argument is "but if I wanted to change from logi to heavy, then I wasted sp in equipment that I shouild be able to respec into armor and shields", then you don't understand the point of the dropsuit refund.
It's not designed to let you just switch to whatever role you want (unless you're like me and have 40 million sp), it's so that you can switch to a new heavy suit because the amarr one was the only one available, and because these suits are getting a stat, fitting, and slot overhaul.
The last part...weaponry...there is literally no reason or argument for it to get a refund at all. If the scrambler rifle was going from a single shot to a burst, and it became an armor weapon instead of a shield weapon, then yeah we might get one. Balancing changes and new items don't ever give us refunds unless they are also completely changing the other weapons too.

They got to be OP for 3 months and are still going to be good after nerf. Same with Logis, they will still be good at slaying and are only getting slightly nerfed. Besides, they are refunded dropsuit command.

I've said it numerous times before, and I'll say it again. The ability to respec would greatly benefit this game, for exactly the reason listed in the OP. Us Vets don't need a respec, no matter what you do, we have enough SP to adapt instantly, while those with less SP are left to suffer from the continual re-balancing. I'm to the point where I'm just banking my SP because I have nothing more I want to do with it (until that new role, suit, weapon, or vehicle comes into game, then I can dump all my SP into that thing on Day 1)
One way to level the playing field between Veteren and new player is to adopt a neural remaping feature similar to EVE (but different, because SP works differently). Every new character starts with a respec (or is awarded one after graduating a more lengthy battle academy). Then, once a year, the player earns another respec. Combined with an accelerated SP accumulation rate for new accounts, this would greatly benefit new players.
Very few Vets complained about all the respecs they got in closed beta, open beta, and post-release. These respecs allowed us Vets to make mistakes, learn how to play, understand what we liked, and then make appropriate Skill choices. Not giving new players the same opportunity, and then ridiculing them with stories of "Back in my day, we earned SP while fighting battles uphill both ways, this is New Eden, consequences matter, get good, don't suck, stop complaining" is just flat out wrong. New players today have it harder than us Vets ever did. Us Vets learned the game together, got good together, started using proto gear together, made mistakes together, and then got bailed out repeatedly together.
The only way this game is going to thrive is if we lower the bar of entry to newer players. Respecs are not the only way, but they are an important way. |

I'm not against refunds - but the reasons for the tank refund was that skills/items were removed. It was impossible to not refund.
Infantry skills/items are not being removed.

What seems to be the case these days is that a respec happens when they alter the skill so much to actually change the way the affected items themselves operate. In the case of weapons the weapons themselves aren't being drastically affected. Just a change in damage-type efficacy for certain weapons and some other changes for specific weapons. The dropsuits, though, are going to be more than a little different due to their skill changes. Some are losing features, others gaining features, mostly both, but all are being affected. It only makes sense that dropsuits would get a respec. I'm sure that when we get all the missing racial weapons that there will be a weapon respec, but till then I don't see why one now would make sense. |

As an omni soldier I am still very much against a full respec, I get nothing out of it as I evently train up everything which has now resulted in me about having 9/10ths everything advanced unlocked.
If anyone should be complaining for one it would be the veterans as their hard earned SP is suddenly 'more useless' in some cases.
Would I support a purchasable respec? Maybe. No Freebies unless tree/gear fubar. 6 months time limit; maybe a not so instant return rate (ie you respec and you don't have access to your previous 100% immediately but have high bonus rate until you catch back up.)
As for 1.8 tough luck, its a bit late for it now as there won't be enough time to test the script to make sure it DOESN'T delete SP or something nearly equitably as terrible. CPM fought for full CCP wanted 0 and getting DSC was more than they were originally planning for.
Monday is deployment planning, Tuesday is deployment, Wed is deployment observation, Thursday is reactionary planning, Friday is starts the ground work for the needed hotfix and possible quick ship off to qa.

Honestly the only people who deserved a refund for dropsuits are heavies and scouts. Be thankful you FOTM slayer logis are getting the chance to get out of those suits, or people who made dumb choices for suits are getting it back.
This isn't a "you're bored of the game and want to switch playstyles" respec as others have said, this is for those of us who have literally had no option for suits for our roles (aside from just not playing at all) and are finally getting options. |

Am I content that I spent SP on a profession that almost everyone laughed at for the past two years? Yes.
Also, I may be a veteran, but I don't have uber high SP like some other vets do. Even after the 2 million free SP we just got, I only have 16 million SP. Only one suit specced into at all with just nova knives, an M512 smg and an advanced swarm launcher (which is useless to me).

Eve's neural remap is a great model to apply to DUST. And yes, I do agree that one free respec should maybe be given after graduating from the academy. Unfortunately the academy needs to be overhauled first.
