All of us has complained at sometime about lag and we usually point our fingers at CCP. Well the news is, its not their fault. Now fatal error and a few other blaring issues are.
I am off to effect. |

I rarely lag in Dust, little to no lag that 9 out of 10 I have a perfect battle.
If you run proto gear, prepare to suffer the consequences. You've been warned.

"There are, however, some workarounds. Clever designers have attempted to get computers and game systems to pre-emptively predict lag and adjust what you see on your screen accordingly, or design a game from the ground-up to make it possible and pleasant for multiplayer action. "

There is also cpu down tweaking and clocking; our game has not yet hit what I like to call 'break point' or the halfway point there the developers have done everything they can on their game to remove lag and now its up to internet providers and technology to catch up.
We are still a very very very long ways away from quantum entangled liquid helium 4 routers.

I also blame Comcast for intentionally flooding my connectivity with useless data while ignoring consumer requests to upgrade their infrastructure.

This article specifically deals with network latency(the original thing gamers used to use the word "Lag" for), which this game handles pretty competently.
Client-side prediction is one of the best ways to deal with the type of network latency you get on the internet, and this technology has been around since at least QuakeWorld(1990s). I'm pretty sure Unreal Engine has it too.
The issue is that nowadays, gamers use the word "Lag" to describe all sorts of different phenomenon.
Imagine if you take 3 people.
You stab person number 1. You burn person number 2. You punch person number 3.
Now you ask those 3 people what's wrong, and they say: "I FEEL PAIN" instead of "I've been stabbed" or "I am burning". Now you don't know what type of medicine to bring to alleviate the pain, or if you need to make a tourniquet or start on some skingrafts to treat the injury.
That's the situation with people in this community and others when they say "I HAVE LAG"
These days most players can't differentiate between:
Framerate issues caused by lack of GPU/CPU performance Framerate issues caused by I/O contention (loading content from disk or ram to vram) Network issues caused by latency issues (geographic distance) Network issues caused by bandwidth issues (netflix, small pipe) Server-side issues which cause abnormal game status (rubber-banding) etc.
It's all become "Lag", and this lack of clarity confuses the rest of the community and in turn can confuse CCP as to the actual cause and the proper course of action. |

Until about a month ago, if my information is accurate, PC was nearly unplayable due to severe lag. It has been since fixed, but I haven't been in a PC match since the fix, as I am a horrible waste of a slot in 16 v 16 combat. If what you are saying is true, then they have indeed fixed it.
