You must remember that no matter how bad you are with the scout, you are ten times better than others running med and heavy just by virtue of being willing to run scout. 1.8 will ruin that though except that you can claim pre-FOTM status.

I've trained an alt up to proto Cal assault, hybrid tanked him and seemingly still go down just as quick as my scout. So I said to hell with it and just run scout. Sometimes I armor tank my scout in proto and run that as an assault and come out just as good if not better.

WOW. Thanks. I never thought of it that way before. I like running scout, but sometimes its sooo infuriating. But I'm not a FOTM scout.

I doubt I'll ever be amazing and a top player, but something that keeps me coming back is knowing I can get better, attempting to figure out what I could have done differently, and having fun. Running with my scoutly mates can help there, and I tend to solo too much, so I'm working on that too. I also pretty much always run advanced minmatar scout with one or two kincats - but with the 1.8 changes coming up, I've dumped SP into Gal L5, and decided to blow some of my cash reserves running proto-scout suits, just to see how much of a difference they make. After 10-15 games last few days, I can tell you the Gal proto suit makes a huge difference to my KDR. It is significantly higher, and I'm able to get kill streaks and manage to take on and win encounters against 3 reds at a time. That rarely happens to me when running ADV. I still die way too much, and pretty much know others will do better, but what it tells me is that I'm not as bad as I think I am, because often times I am dying to proto-suits. Anyway...I share your frustrations sometimes, but yeah, the scout community is bloody awesome. Glad you're sticking at it!

But yeah I realised how bad I was getting cause I played when I was angry ands when you're angry you miss shots that should connect and then rage about it.... Get Cal Scout - sit between a wall and a doorway and RE them as they was through the doorway. The QQ after 1.8 won"t be about Gal stealth, it's going to be about how the Cal scout can see through walls and how cloaking now gives scouts ability to toss RE and watch it go boom and run around a corner to cloak and be invisible and not detectable. Heavies and assault won't be able to prevent this tactic while you will rarely run into a Gal Scout running through the same paths as everyone else.

When I run scout I only have to say "Well of course I went down so fast" See it takes away the in-between. You either succeed or die. So you have a better idea about what is going to succeed or not and can easily avoid the fluff. I think it makes dying again and again easier to accept. It isn't you, it's the suit.
