This is not about uplinks, ammo, or spawns.
I was in a game earlier today when I got an orbital. Ok, i'll call it in. I scroll to off map support and accidentally click installations.
WTF IS THE INSTALLATIONS TAB?
I have seen it before but never really thought about it until now, but seriously what is it for?

You have to equip a Pilot Dropsuit to use them.

We could use it to call in the installations you see around the map.
Of course, as easily hacked as they are, and how pitifully weak the turrets are in relation to HAVs, it is somewhat understandable why CCP hasn't given a damn about the feature. Kinda like how they rely on Drop Uplinks instead of just fixing the spawns.

Similar to Starhawk when you call in a base, turret, tank base, ect...

But there is never anything in that menu, if there was I wouldn't ask.
