Choose your weapons for the suit based on the ranges you wish to be engaging at, not their efficiency values. Weapons that allow you to synergise and rapidly alter effectiveness at range are more valuable than having paired weapons that are not adaptable.
Also stick to the back of pack, your regeneration is not as good as Assaults or Scouts, use your EHP and range to out shoot your opponents.
You have no grenades so you have to target and DPS enemies down one at a time.

RR + PlC - alternate between ranged DPS and high alpha, decent for both AI and AV suppression ScR + MD - great damage synergy, but only effective in bursts, so to speak, so requires careful management; when you get it right, though, au revoir, omnitankers AR/CR + SG - effective in city maps and defending objectives, engage with rifle midrange, SG to face when they try to close in CR/RR + SR - one of the best sniping suits, as you're not forced to rely on sidearms when defending one's self and fairly high base HP makes you reasonably tough to countersnipe quickly LR + CR - covers a great deal of range, again a good damage profile balance 2x PlC - if you have level 4-5 in Commando and level 3 or so in PlC Reload, this is surprisingly workable, and nothing say "Deal with it" like firing off a round, then pulling out *another* PlC 2x CxMyofibs 1x CxKC or Cardiac - Falcon Punchmando
You can cover so many situations, virtually all equipment is useful. I like a scanner if I'm covering an objective or running solo, rep tool if I'm with a group, hives depending on the weapon loadout, REs/mines if I think I'll be AV'ing. Uplinks are usually too hard to fit, unfortunately (and you're usually going to be too slow to put them anywhere decent, anyway). |

I have an assault based Gallente commando with tons of DPS and 19.75 armor hp/s with a duvolle and a Creodron ip. Then an Engineer based Commando with Duvolle AR, Allotek Plasma cannon and Allotek repair Nanohives.
The assault commando is temporary until they make Assaults worth running again and the Engineer commando is what I intended to do.

Being commando makes you a very versatile soldier, in the field you can provide support(uplinks, scanners, etc.) while creating havoc and giving heavy support. You can easily defend an objective until you are outnumbered or break enemy lines in objectives or support fallen comrades and use yourself as a shield. What weapons you use define your effectiveness, a rifle with mid-long range will allow you to suppress fire while also using a shotgun to finish off enemies. Equipment will also allow you to support yourself or others.
Well, time to go Commando. Fill the Ranks at 703rd.

Doesn't even include the typical assault scrambler rifle and laser rifle combination. Again I can tell you from a ridiculous amount of hours put into commando suits that damage profile balance is a load of BS, you don't need it. All you need is various range balance. Trust me, I tried LR + CR for a long time. If a shield tanker gets upclose to you it's not like you'll use the laser rifle, and if an armor tanker is far away it's not like you'll use the CR. It's really best to simply go with your preferred weapons and/or max out that new racial bonus opposed to trying to achieve damage profile balance which means jack squat.
Also yes all equipment can be useful but an absolute shame you didn't even mention the most useful of them all, the nanite injector. There is no suit better fitted to be reviving friendlies than a suit with two light weapons, it makes you much more capable of clearing off enemies before making the revive.

Sure Operation Mauler could of waited for racial parity as well, but even then it's still just the HMG and Forge.
