I just put in about ten games. Granted, most of them were ambush with a few domination games thrown in, but not a single one of those games was tank free, and only one of them possessed a single tank. Perhaps the fact I kept running into Nyain San was partially to blame... but really. The last game saw about three tanks die to my RE's and another one I managed to steal, and they just kept coming until the very end of the game.
Seriously, CCP, this has been one of the biggest issues of 1.7. Please, for the love of this game, find a way to fix the tank spam. You could raise the prices, remove another slot from all tanks, buff AV (not to previous levels, but relatively similar) or just set a lower vehicle limit on matches. There are plenty of ways you could do this with a hotfix, heck, you probably could avoid touching any of the tank stats at all. Despite all the hate on them, tanks are relatively easy to kill and not a problem on their own, but the tank spam on every single game is what hurts them. Before 1.7, calling in a tank, like calling in a dropship now, was an investment that brought with it quite a bit of risk, but the rewards could be extremely high as well. Now, there's almost no risk, and bringing in tank after tank after tank (especially militia tanks) is about as costly as bringing in advanced suits.
If nothing else, give us a game mode or two that is vehicle free, a way to get away from the tanks and just have a few good gunfights without having to worry about the tank spam.

They need to raise the cost of tank hulls and bring swarms back close to pre-1.7 level as well as fixing the damage application problems with swarm v all vehicles. As for forges i feel like people were able to make them work through proficiency and stacked damage mods (now thats done for). Finally, for the love of all things good do not drop the count on AV grenades.
Nerfing militia tanks will turn tanks into an even more dominant force by allowing the guys with SP into them to own the map untouched. I also feel like pulling the speed down on all tanks by 5-10% would help the issue as well by forcing the tanks to use another slot to stack speed modules instead of hardeners if they want to be fast. |

I'm not saying we need them to be 2 mil each again, but right now you can fit a good Gunnlogi or Madrugar for less than half what my Python fits cost.

NO. I hate seeing militia tanks running around as much as anyone and have come close to smashing my controller thanks to them a few times, but nerfing militia tanks will give the advance and above guys absolute god mode since AV is even more useless against their never ending hardener cycles and faster turret speed. Militia tanks are the only thing that keep these guys from rolling in nitro burning and leveling everyone and everything without a care in the world.

They really don't...... how do you justify a Tank already costing more than a 50m long frigate with T1 guns?

Why are you comparing vehicles in 2 totally separate economies?
How do you justify an armored vehicle with large caliber weapons costing the same as a well fitted dropsuit?

Nerfing militia tanks isn't the answer... I know all the "real" tankers want to not get blown up by anything that has less sp invested in it, but then what is the point of low level gear, I can kill a proto dropsuit with a free dropsuit, but no one has a problem with that...
What needs doing is nerfing the damn modules, increase the cpu/pg of things and fix stacking on hardeners and repairers... Also the large turrets need re-making so they don't completely outclass everything in the game by a **** ton of utility and damage. |

Alright guys as a tanker since open beta let me tell you what CCP did causing this problem. Prior to 1.7 vehicle modules had different efficiency ratings based on whether it was proto or basic. Say a basic damage mod did 10% more damage then a proto did 30%. Modules like hardeners were restricted to only one kind per fit to keep out hardener abuse.
These were completely removed. Now militia does as well as proto in the sense of efficiency only they take longer to recharge or sometimes last shorter. CCP messed up bad by doing this removing completely the necessity of specing millions if SP into vehicles so a tank would actually be affective and even unatopable if used right.
If CCP reimplemented some form of variation between proto and militia with efficiency ratings then you would see a lot of tank spammers/abusers disappear. Keep all proto mods at what they are now but lower hardeners and damage mods in efficiency the lower speced they are so militia isn't as good as proto or just as effective. This will keep the tankers that are real tankers in the game and remove those that spent under a million to just get HAV operation and maybe some basic turrets and modules.
In sense of AV the only thing that should be done is raise the range of swarms by somewhere between 50-100m atleast. I disagree with damage nerfs to AV in 1.8 and I'm a tanker who enjoys a challenge from AV dot his is why I support reasonable buffs to them. I want a challenge to be universal between vehicles and AV, nothing OP.
As for prics I find them fair since I'm a tanker that looses tanks now and then yet I ain't rich enough to lose more than one or two a match and I can't do that consistently. The ones that can spam fully proto tanks are ones in corporations in PC since they do the same as infantry. Regardless do what I said to mods and you would have way less tank spam of militia and basic.

What we need, aside from traditional balancing: More choke-points (To set up proxy mines and to trap vehicles) More cover (For infantry to avoid vehicles)
Most importantly: more "divided" maps where some letters can be controlled by vehicles (being very open), while other letters require more of an infantry presence. The balanced team wins.
