I know this isn't EVE. I am not stating that AV/vehicles are balanced. I understand there is a problem with AV. I understand that you think CCP doesn't listen or know how to balance things. I understand that you may believe that another patch may not come for a year. I know that the game has problems. I am not trying to say anything about balance, timely releases, quality of released content, competence of CCP or players or anything other than the following:
I have been putting the above disclaimer in all my posts. How long should I continue? I do it because no matter what anyone posts there are those whom want to read between the lines and insert their ideas of what I am trying to say. My wife says I am just being a dic and she is partially correct but for the one day I have been doing It I have had less people infer meanings from my posts and post retorts about points I wasn't trying to make. I figure another week or two will do the job.

That maybe a bit much but I'll consider it. It just sucks that we can't even make a post without people jumping to conclusions or just flat out trying to make a poster look stupid by adding their interpretation of what was posted instead of trying to articulate their point and have a constructive debate about mechanics and game play.

It has nothing to do with CCP not being able to do no wrong. It is the constant QQ about things that are being worked on, out of thier controll or just plain old troll thread. I can list things all day that I think they are doing wrong, done poorly or just seem to flat out ignore us but I try to be positive and not a troll that only likes to be negative and complain. Many of us only see one side of something and don't even try to consider the other side or why something may be that way. I try to be objective and sometimes I am one of the few who will try debated why something is how it is instead of jumping strait into calling them stupid and inept. Please don't confuse my willingness to debate or even defend something with blind fanboyism.
The game is borked up and a large majority is CCP's fault because of the way they communicate with us, release patches that are blatantly full of crap or just bad. I am not denying that but at the same time many of these things are a byproduct of the cankerous nature of this forum and the players whom are just plain trolls. Many of the suggestions that we have given and they have implemented have came back to bite us and then we turn on CCP and tell them that they don't listen and are stupid. We do the same thing to the CPM and I just don't think that is the case.
People act like this is easy and it does seem easy for COD or BF both of which have literally 10x the experience with FPS mechanics and much more knowledge about PS3 programming and code optimization. I am not blindly defending them but it is hard to defend against 10k players whom only want to troll and post the most negative and often ill though out posts. I agree with many of your posts and I agree that CCP regularly steps in dog **** and then eats it but all the grief they receive is not warranted and would not happen if the poster had to look a person in the eye and say what they post.

Not to be rude but I sometimes can't tell if posts are trolling or are how the person actually feels and I have to take it as a troll. That makes me not want to feed the trolls.

No. Two years ago, TWO YEARS ago!! at the start of Closed Beta I did a thread asking about a vehicle free game mode or at least some infantry trenches. Got some Blue responses and, and, and....NOTHING done about this. But hey!! Dev1: what we got? Dev2: theres hundreds of threads with thousands of likes asking about new suits, weapons, maps, game modes, Dev1: meh! what else? Dev2: um theres a single post with no likes asking about new supply depos. Dev1: Holy Mother of Kittens!! get on that!! right the MEOW! now!! And we got retooled supply depos. Repeat for reducing the scout passive scan from 20m to 16m Repeat for turning the sexy female clone walk into a Terminator walk. We see an arrogant and lazy developer. Case in point the year old artwork for new suits. Its a lack of dedication and focus. Its a case of Ay se va meaning eh!! ship it anyway regardless of faults. Add in a lack of transparency AKA posting a patch note after content lock when theres no way to modify the patch contents. Changes done that show that the playerbase is really not consulted on gameplay changes: Where were the DEV posts about vehicle mods changes??, AV changes?? When a proper form was: DEV thread : we are considering reducing grenades from 3 down to 2 : Please post if you think its a good idea or a bad idea. And right now not even a single post about vehicle fixes in 1.8?? Hey I love Dust 514 but I am no rah rah boy so a lot of us are at the point of just waiting for June/July to participate in the great PS4 migration.
I wouldn't argue any of those points. You are correct, they do ask for feedback and then do what they want. We do give constructive feedback -a good bit of the time- that never seems to be listened to or moved past the "I saw your post" blue tag. I am not, have not and will not say that they implement all of our suggestions or that they even consider them good. I have said many times that they listen to us and they do but that doesn't mean that I think act on those suggestions or feedback all the time. If we go back through all the 1953 pages of posts I think there would be plenty of things that have been ignored, plenty that have been use and many that have been totally changed from what we were suggesting.
PC, FW, 1.0 TAC, HAV, AV, FG sniping, redlines, ADS, PLC, and a host of other things have been changed to what we wanted or from what we thought was bad. Were all of them done like we wanted? No. Did they all work correctly? No. Is there a problem with communication and implementation? YES! and I will say it every time but I will not come here to QQ like some ***** on the rag or insult players an devs for likes. I am a positive person by nature, I may wear rose colored glasses but I am not blind. Don't take this the wrong way but read the book "How Full is Your Bucket", this PDF doesn't have the pictures but it is the book and it is how I work and it is a good rule to live by.

It goes without saying that I agree on quite a few of those points, but you seem to not properly seperate what you want, what the "community" wants, what ccp wants, and what is actually doable(and in what timeframe) as independant, coexisting entities which, when reconciliated, might not entirely please one or all of them.
All they would have to do is use a medium socket with no way out and call it an underground bunker or cave and let us fight without vehicles, we should be able to get away from vehicles but it should be in rotation and not a map that we can select just to make it easier on us. He is correct we do need a vehicle free map but you are just as correct when you say that his listed examples are not evidence that we are not listened to.

Can you do the same for the AV changes in 1.7? Can you do the same for the changes where a DEVELOPER asked the community about the implications of changeing grenades from 3 down to 2??
Pardon me but I have the distinct impresion that CCP just implemented the changes with no forum discourse or input from the playerbase.
Not that it really matters once June/July is here.
It does seem that way but we don't know what the NDA restricts them from talking about or features they plan on introducing into the game, I am not trying to constantly argue with you but these types of posts highlight my previous fanboyish post. I hate to say it and I know we have been but we have to be patient. This game is a slow burn and in a constant state of flux and by only focusing on what we don't like we will never see the progress we have made and are making. We don't know why the grenade nerf was introduced but if after fanfest they introduce a AV medium frame and a grenader frame then we will all look like fools for the QQ we all post. I am not saying you are not correct but we should be mindful that we don't know what they have planned for the future of DUST.

How are you going to say that CCP listens to us when they roll out with weapon damage mod nerfs (cripples AV even further) and a reduction to grenade count across the board (more AV nerfs) in 1.8? That's not even ignoring us... that's going out of their way to be douche canoes. It's like they heard our feedback and said, "You don't like HAVs huh? Well then you are going to HATE this."

Listening to us is not the same as doing what we say. I listen to my kids but I don't always do what they want, I am not ignoring them but they don't always see the big picture. I guess I have to go back to using the disclaimer already.

I know...
No, they do not and even if they did I would not do what they wanted every time they wanted to do. Let me try again. I listen to my wife but we don't always do what she wants like we don't always do what I want, we both pay the bills. One liners don't hurt me because it is just a like generator that you used to try to make me look even more foolish than I already do. Jokes on you because I am balls deep as it is.
Not listening and not implementing the suggestions are two totally different things. You do understand that just because we think it is right or want it does not mean that it is good for the game or the players. We do not have a road map of features they are planning on releasing and when. We don't see the limitations they are under due to cost, complexity or staff limitations. Things take time and if you think they can just magically change something and it work perfectly the first time every time then you don't understand coding.
We are mad and I get that but that doesn't mean that we are correct in what we think is happening or going to happen. People in EVE complained about the new structures that were introduced. They said they were useless, not needed and that they didn't understand why they were being released. When in reality those changes are the core of all the changes that they have been asking for and the new structures have created content and new tactics for players.
Just because we don't understand the reason doesn't always make it bad. I am not saying it is correct or anything like that but complaining everyday in thread after thread is not the way to go about changing their minds or influencing their decisions. They said that is what is happening and there isn't much we can do but try it out, provided constructive feedback and play the game before we jump to conclusions.

Malkai Inos wrote:But the specific reasons for our disagreement are besides the point anyways. The important part is that we as a community do, in fact, disagree with each other on some fundamental topics and we do it all the time while we're at it. Forgetting this leads to frustration when CCP doesn't engage seemingly "simple", "clear" problems the way one or the other expects them to. .
This is a very good example of what I am trying to say most of the time when I am debating a topic.
Having a mode that a player can choose that restricts vesicles is bad but having a map or two that is put in the rotation that is random adds to diversity. If we ever have a map that is a ship in space it will basically be a vehicless map. I just want you to think outside of the common FPS mentality that war should be fair. Nothing in war is fair and by adding a map or two that doesn't have space for a vehicle is just another way to play the game, it doesn't make it bad, it just makes it different. Hopefully in a few years there will be so many maps that we won't have these problems like we do now. My only point is that we shouldn't restrict how they give us tools to use because when we do that we are only restricting ourselves.

As you can see I don't go for likes either and I was just poking you a bit.
I don't think you specifically think patches will be bug free. Just because it is borked doesn't mean they don't have a plan or are working towards a master plan, balancing is difficult and it is broken now. Dead skills will not stay that way but right now there is nothing for us to use them on because they are growing room. They can't release everything at once, look at EVE's development for examples. I am not impressed with what they have accomplished either but I am not going to just write it off as a feature that will never be here.
DUST will have the depth similar to what EVE enjoys but EVE wasn't built in a day or even a year, they just now changed corp stuff to allow for more members and there are plenty of things that EVE pilots want that we haven't received yet all the way from more destroyers to alliance bookmarks.
I am not trying to excuse anything but I am trying to bring to light that we don't know what they have planned. Like I said before, there are lots of things they can't talk about because of the NDA and if one of them is a AV medium frame that allows for more grenades or something similar then we all are going to just pat each other on the back but none of use will say that we were wrong for calling them inept. It is shortsighted and ignorant to say that they are borking the game on purpose or don't listen. Use EVE as an example on how the operate and you should see that they try and usually have a plan they are working on.
