If he braved the forums.
I can hear your response now, "We're a bunch of whiny children.", "I wouldn't come here if I were him.", "He's busy doing important stuff to talk to us.".
That is exactly why I would respect him for doing it. We ARE a bunch of whiny children. Knowing that, and still taking the time to come to the forums and talk to us takes gumption. It would mean a lot to us, I think.
I don't care if it is a simple AMA-style thread for one day; it would mean a lot to us. Devblogs are nice, but they are a one-way dialogue.

I'm more interested to hear his apparently upcoming statement about the future.

I'd wager a bet that will happen at Fanfest and not before |

I think we will learn a lot about the next 9 to 12mos of dust from his statement at FanFest. Every indication that I've seen or heard has been that he fully understands the problems with over promising and lack of transparency...and doesn't intend to go down the road again.
Anything post 1.8 has his direct handprint on it - I'm very interested to see how this goes.

Oh I'm interested in that too. As I said, devblogs are nice.
But how difficult would it be to schedule one day to talk to us on the forums? He wouldn't even have to do it for the entire day, maybe a few hours.

If CCP wants my money they also want my respect too.
Why do you ask these question? Are you against CCP Rouge talking to us? What a strange stance to take...

A lot of people make strong points, even if what they are saying is considered QQ.
The dialogue might be seen as one way, but it's really two ways. The decision making process is a way one street, which makes the community believe that their voices are not being heard. No vehicle fixes, nerf to AV, no word on fixes to swarms or sprinting with NK. So while DEVs and CPMs are suppose to do a job, it seems that our complaints are not acknowledged and community gets frustrated.

Understatement of the year.

In all reality, I think the community might poke him and have some pretty harsh words about the state of the game, but I know a lot of people who would be incredibly encouraged to see someone attempting to make contact with us. Hell, our community managers are either not being told anything to tell us or too frightened to talk to us. Having the exec. producer stop by and say hello would be HUGE.

I have to agree with this. I don't see enough devs in game, I understand they are busy but it would go a long way with us if they seemed to be in game more or at least communicate with us in a chat channel in game. I don't like IRC, I don't use facebook, my twitter feed moves so fast sometimes that I can't catch all the tweets. In game channels and the forums should be the where a lot of talks take place. What does it say about them when they will use some esoteric chat system instead of the in game channels we have and use.

Well, having sunk hundreds and hundreds of dollars into this game, I do expect some sort of reasonable interface from these people; more than just a "once a month" post about something.
I expect some sort of reasonable feedback, particularly when the majority of the community says there's glaring technical problems in the game that need to be addressed. And no I don't sit in the IRC as I don't always have the time.

I don't know who thought it was a good idea to have CCP drop information that the community needs in IRC, but who ever that is needs to be taken to the backyard and wiped with a rubber hose. I can't think of a more asinine way to communicate with your community than with a chat room that only a tiny fraction of the community actually sees.
Twitter and Facebook I understand, but the information posted there should be posted there AFTER being posted on the official forums.
