time CCP gave the noobs some love;
1) Delete the MLT AV fit... actually leave it in its a great demo of how useless swarms are.. but make it a commando suit with a rifle.
2) Free MLT HMG Heavy fit
3) Free MLT Forge Heavy fit
4) Free MLT scout cloak fit
Where possible race-variant weapons on starter suits. (eg combat rifle not assault rifle for minmatar.)

Good idea. Doesnt even need to be as sophisticated as Commando.
My suggestion:
1) Racial Rifle and Pistol Medium
2) Racial Heavy HMG
3) Racial "AV" Medium (Light "AV" is all ridiculous. Just put MD and PC in there with the SL, doesnt matter, just for the flavour) with AV grenades and Submachine Gun
4) Racial Rifle Scout with Cloak
5) Racial Scout with Sniper Rifle
6) Racial Rifle Medium Militia Logi with Needle + Racial Equipment
I think you just need to showcase all the intended roles. AV is useless, but it gives you WP now anyway, so go with it. |

it should be
1. assault style suit
2. support style
3. anti vehicle
4. scout
5. heavy suit
and having the racial gear is necessary if it exists

no overly specialist roles for free suits, no changing equipment on free suits yellow prints should be locked

Honestly, we need less free suits, not more. That being said, it wouldn't hurt if the free suits you do have were racial.
Also, to the OP's point, yes, the free AV suit is pretty ridiculous. I don't think it can kill an afk, unfit, LAV before running out of ammo, yet alone anything realistic (whereas, the other free suits, can and do in fact get kills). |
