Flay lock is still useful as a side arm to the plasma cannon.

If they were useful you'd see them in the kill feed more than once a month

There will be hard competition of these two for the title of the most useless sidearm. But I believe we will see more Ion pistols.
First they are new, so a lot will simply try them just to abandon them once they realize how bad this weapon is (that's what I will do ) Secondly I think they are slightly easier to use in comparison with the flaylock |

I use them a lot. As a salt-on-the-wound type weapon. SCP +FLP.

I'd have to say the flaylock will be less competitive. I don't see how the Ion Pistol could be less used, as others have said you pretty much never see the flaylock on the kill feed right now. Though maybe the whole shield/armor bonus thing will mix stuff up. Definitely gonna be seeing a ton of magsecs i'd imagine. I may even stick with my AR and skill into the magsec to save sp for my guilty pleasure, Dropships.

I love how with all the talk of sidearms and even the negative talk about ion pistols, no one even wants to admit that the bolt pistol exists. I've been all over these forums and not a single person so much as mentions them.

I used the Flaylock all weekend and again last night. I scored 4 kills with it the entire time. I'd rather reload than switch to it in nearly every case. When I did make it kill it was a glorious thing though.
The funny thing is I still have it fit to most suits that have a sidearm slot.
I want to believe.

I'm a little interested in the Ion pistol.
I have to admit I love the ethetics of a weapon more than its ability - why I still use the flay. So whether I use the ion or not is down to how it sounds and works.
Caldari tech looks too boring. The RR looks like a childrens toy to me and the sidearms don't look much better. Even the AUR varients of their weapon are bland. Only the Viziam and Torchflare forge guns look good.

I end up training all weapons to at least 3 anyway. I'll play around with both the Ion and Bolt pistols long enough to have a basic understanding of their capabilities. The Ion might be fun for a sneaky scout type.

Flaylock. Three bullets, terribad splash damage, and it only works when you have a bit of high ground.
The Ion Pistol, however, has a terrible range, although it can be competitive against people who are higher up than you or on the same level ground. |
