Even when the cloak comes out, don't tell me you're not going to die to a bunch of bullshit just because you're not using a shotgun instead
If I was a serious Minja I would just rely on melee. At least then you'll have a sidearm that doesn't suck.

CCP is removing the bonus melee damage Minmatar Scouts get 1.8.
And as a guy that prefers melee over knives, I have to admit knives are better, even with Myofibril Stimulants.

Minmatar scout has the highest base damage of the scouts.
Even higher than assaults, though heavies still hold the crown for strongest punch.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

Knives are the best side arm. I won't blame you if you suck with them though, they are only for the best players to use well.

Yeah on an alt character and I understand I would be more successful with profile dampening and a backup weapon.
I just feel like it would be tactically useful if the kill feed didn't announce (Ishukone Nova Knives) and alert everyone to watch their backs. Plus if you're knifing anything that's not a scout and you miss, they hear it and instakill you because your HP puts you at a disadvantage, even if you switch out to the other weapon.

Meh. only like 5% of the people I knife actually hear it. It is very satisfying to slice the head of a proto Gallente logistics suit.

CQC scouts just were never my thing. if i eventually skill into a scout, it will be Gallente with a sniper rifle.
Look I agree that knives are powerful, especially in 1.8 where they will be one of the Sentinel's only weaknesses.
But I won't be using them on bamboo x anytime soon.

I'll gleefully take the hacking bonus instead. It's weird losing it on the Medic Alt and gaining it on the Minja Alt.

Knives are really fun, but you have to use them properly and bring another weapon with some range like an SMG just in case you are spotted. If you run your scout like an assault you are not going to get many knife kills. Try hiding and skirting the main battle then dart in and stab them in the back when they least expect it. Camping objectives is also a good way to get some kills. |
