With the vehicle rebalance 1.7, vehicles were supposed to have "waves of opportunity" that coincided with their active tanking module being up. AV weapons were "rebalanced" to work in this new idea. Vehicles should be nearly impossible to kill while actively tanked and relatively weak without.

In practice, though, it's only worked out that vehicles are the ones presented with any opportunity at all. They are nearly indestructible in any state, with the active tank making them invulnerable to any damage, it would seem. This has led to tank (and to a lesser extent) and assault dropship spam. It works out that whoever gets a tank on the field is the one who gets to control the field, mercilessly slaughtering infantry, light and heavy vehicles alike. AV weapons are all but useless against vehicles now. Swarm launchers only serve to show the tank driver where best to aim their blasters thanks to the missile trails.

Isn't it time to implement an infantry-only game mode? A map that only takes place indoors perhaps? On a space station? In a locked down facility? Infantry of all sorts would be allowed in, but there'd be no vehicle delivery. How would you guys feel about an infantry-only queue? Would people use it?

They should separate Ambush and Ambush OMS.

OMS means "Off Map Support" and I'm pretty sure Vehicles should constitute as "off map support".

when you mentioned Assault drop ships you SHOUTED I'M IGNORANT I know from personal experience AV works on all drop ships the good pilots make AV look like they aren't effective when they actually are, every time the ADS flys away it means they dont want to loose their aircraft and gives the infantry a window to kill each other so thank the AV troops when the mean scary vehicles leave your AO.

As for the topic of this thread I agree on the need for more modes and new maps they really need to make the P.O.S. P.O.C.O. and capital ship maps so that we can help the EVE pilots wage war.

+1 for the new map suggestion.
 -1 for the vehicle rant.

 10/10, would queue.

Maybe a no squad queue too. Because getting destroyed by 6-man Proto teams is always fun and interesting.

Pilots all around New Eden would love having a game mode they're excluded from participating in.

Seriously though, infantry would really love it...and really, really use it. So much so that you'd see countless players never bother with vehicle modes and pilots facing mostly other pilots or forge guns. Eventually that creates two seperate communities that barely interact with each other.

Vehicle/Infantry balance sucks right now, but pilots have had the stick for almost a year before that and giving one side a way to opt out will not fix the underlying problem.

There is No Matchmaking In Dust514.

There never has been, nor will there ever be any. There are not enough players to allow players to decide not to get pub-stomped by Proto equipped, queue synced squads nor by vehicles.

Dust514 has a very low player count. This weekend million SP for a million destroyed clones is a perfect time to point it out. They managed to get the players logged in over 5k for several days. It will drop again very soon. Like after downtime on the 17th.

We have asked for matchmaking, features that mimic matchmaking and hundreds of ideas for basic matchmaking for well over a year. CCP/Shanghai has replied with the cold vacuum of space. Get used to it.

Consider that the new player experience is generally good while in the war academy but drops off considerably after you're booted out. Then think that those same brand-spanking-new players are then subjected to public or faction contracts full of proto squads, rich, and running tanks. Now, honestly, does this sound even remotely fun?

If CCP wants new players to stick around--and more new players than just the hardest of hardcore--then Dust is going to have to adapt more dynamically; balance changes have to come more quickly. If that means new game modes that perhaps mean infantry only, then so be it. And if lots of players like that game mode more, and end up playing it more over the "tank inclusive" game mode, then too bad. That's a pretty clear message that players would rather not deal with glaring imbalances when they can avoid it.

Yes, I support this idea. I believe a majority of infantry (and therefore the majority players) would opt-into this. As a consequence, the other modes would be almost exclusively vehicle-on-vehicle. That would pretty much break the game, but it would make a strong statement about the current game and how "not fun" it is with OP vehicles and UP A/V.

I just cannot understand why CCP seems so committed to TANK 514. That's not the game I enjoy playing and I don't think it's sustainable. There will remain some loyal players, but even I, who doesn't like to give up on anything, won't stick around much longer if the Tank spam is not addressed.

One glimmer of hope, cloaked Scouts with Remote Explosives (at least vs. Tanks).
