Why? This.
CCP_CmdrWang GÇÅ@CCP_CmdrWang 5h 887,139 #dust514 clones have been destoryed so far, only 112,861 left to go! New stretch goal is set at 2 million kills for 2 million SP!

This will benefit everyone. If you're a new player, you get a decent head start. If you're a veteran player, you finally get to finish that specialization you always wanted or just stash it to the side for when the 1.8 dropsuit refund comes in. And with the Omega boosters, that's just making this whole debate about needing a refund on weapons and upgrades that much more pointless.

Oh, we're getting a suit respec anyways. That's been confirmed on the dev blogs. I just doubt we're getting a weapon/upgrades respec because of this event alone. 2 million SP is a lot you know.

Overall, we are now starting to see why CCP decided not to give us the refund on the upgrades and weapons. It's because 2 million FREE SP alone is more than enough to compensate. And if you have an Omega booster, you are balling.

Booster won't apply to more than the first 1m of the event reward. Can't rem where I read it, so much info all over the place. Pity, but hey-ho, 3m ain't bad |

I think the idea that more racial weapons being in the pipeline makes more sense than the SP event.
What would be the point in offering a weapon respec when they are still going through so many changes? It would make more sense to do it down the line when most of the major shifts in weaponry are out of the way.
The SP event is just to tide us over, and apply weapons to new suit roles some people might have.
That is my take anyways.

And if you have an Omega booster, you are balling. I'm certainly happy enough CCP is offering a generous stretch goal generated from an offhandedly post. That however isn't a reason. The closest we got was the guy who points out if there was to be a weapon refund it should happen after the main inventory came out. That may not line up with the last update but it does make sense in the black-hole that is CCP's logic.
On that note CCP is being inconsistent and unprofessional with these updates. No one knows what is going on or why. This flaw in the company is terrible for a twenty-first century socially networked game.
Lastly the QQ-Argument is a fallacy. An element of Ad Hominem which discredits the author. The only appropriate time would be self deprecating humor, optionally in conjunction with a point being made.

More free SP is never a valid excuse for no refunds. All this does is give the people who don't have to change tanking types due to new suit availability or change weapons due to new bonuses an even bigger advantage over everyone who do. Basically everyone who already has their upgrades and weapons done properly for their fits (this would include myself) are given bonus SP to use on whatever while everyone else must use the SP to catch up.

Of course there's a need to respec weapons, Thery're removing near 20% damage from Rail Rifles so I want to change to HMG, Oh, can't no skill in HMG, :(

I don't think you can say "no need for a weapon/upgrades refund because of this event." The same arguments still apply; "changing from a Amarr Commando to a Caldari Commando means that points in Scrambler Rifles are wasted and the idea was to not be penalized for changing to a certain race's variant from your role."
The million SP just means that it is less significant of a hurt not having those. I really doubt this event had anything to do with the respec or lack thereof because it doesn't make any sense. "Instead of letting people redo their Infantry choices, we have decided to give them 1, 1.5, 2, 3, or 4 million SP depending on where they hit the goals and their boosters." That's like an automotive company not replacing/refunding the car you bought because it was sold under false implications and instead saying "you have to keep the car but here's 100,000 dollars."
For most people, I assume getting 4 million SP is a hell of a lot more than they would free up from a respec. For me, I would lose points in AR which amounts to about a million or so, want points out of weapon upgrades, and get back 12k here and there from not wanting to ever use a Laser Rifle, Mass Driver, Plasma Cannon, or Nova Knife again. 4 Million SP is probably about twice that. So, for me and many other, this event is worth more than a Weaponry refund and probably on par with a Weaponry+Upgrades refund IF you have a booster on. The argument there is now "because I didn't pay, I don't get a 'refund'?"
I still think there should have been a refund, at least for Weaponry. Am I still sad that there wasn't? Yes. Am I happy that I can potentially get 4 million SP, about 1/6 of what I currently have? I am but still annoyed to see that I have points in a dirty Gallente weapon... |

It's simple. CCP wouldn't make as much money if they did a weapon respec. Because everyone's going to buy boosters to get into the fancy new sidearms.
As they are already doing with this event and the 3-day Omega they're selling exclusively for it.

I would help you argue the point you are trying to make but people are too focused on themselves and not on what might be best for the game. People feel cheated because things change and I understand that. I guess they figure they will only play one suit with one weapon from now on. As the game continues to develop hopefully the balance between suits and weapons will become better and there won't be the OP go to weapon or suit. I think a lot of people who are down on 1.8 will be surprised how much of a difference there will be in fits and how it will impact the game. Whatevs, I have some clones to terminate.

Yea but Aero - that is the very nature of this game. The vets and the older characters will always have an SP advantage - Just as they do in EVE.
The weapon respec calls are more a matter of proper weapon balance or lack thereof. Like I have said in other threads, after 1.8 drops sure there will be TTK changes. I would just hope that not too long afterwards CCP will look at making each and every weapon both viable and NOT OP by nature of some tweaks and changes. It wouldn't take too much to do but of course I would expect anything like that to come until after fanfest.
