I was going to complain about it, then I realized I already have the SCR, AR, LR, and CR unlocked anyway along with every piece of equipment aside from rep tools. So upon further analysis...... Im totally okay with just a dropsuit respec because LOL 36 million SP, soon to be 39 million SP when this drops. I have everything I want unlocked with just a tad bit extra spread out between some other miscellaneous items.
You see, I was going to complain how a lot of guys would be shafted by this partial respec. A lot of them saying "OMG Racial parity! Let me choose the suit ive really wanted to use for so long! Oh wait..... these suits have weapon/equipment specific bonuses...... and unfortunately the weapon/equipment ive already unlocked doesn't match up with them...... guess I have to do the same thing I was doing before......."
In the meantime I was going to draw comparisons between the vehicle respec and how they got a complete vehicle respec when everything they had was changed. I mean, its not like they only got SP back for the hulls of their tanks.
but hey! What do I care, it really doesn't effect me at all.

The point behind the respec was to give people a chance to use a suit that should have been available from the beginning while still keeping to their "no respecialization" code.
So if you want to go from Amarr heavy to Cal heavy, your core and weapon skills should still fit perfectly (aside from armor and shield skills, but that's a drop in the bucket), but respecializing to Min Logi would be a bit more inconvenient because you're switching roles.

Its just unfortunate. I speced into some equipment. Now if I want my drop links to be worth a damn, I have to use an Amarr logi. i dont like Caldari, so now my nanohives are useless. And ect, ect.
Now if they didnt tamper with how equipment works, that would be fine I wouldnt complain. Why even bother lining up everything racially if we are going to get stuck with the old free for all system?
Dropsuit weapons is debatable. I think everyone wants to get out of AR because they ruined the class for no reason. But not refunding Dropsuit Upgrades was a pretty selfish and shortsighted approach.
And of course, this thread shows who really benefits from it. The guy with 37million SP.
^And this is why i didnt buy any boosters for this weekends event. im not going to reward this kind of CCP behavior by giving them cash. |

And not refunding dropsuit upgrades was neither selfish nor shortsighted. Those are two words I could use to describe the reasons for doing it. Not the reasons against.
The light frames only had half the races included and the heavy suit was even less complete as the only suit available was just a placeholder. Honestly they had no business refunding SP spent on medium frames at all but like I said on another thread the shitstorm created by only refunding light and heavy frames wouldn't be worth it. Not by a long shot.

What use will the Matari Sentinel have for Armor Plating V?

The beauty of 35+mil sp as I have realized, and about 4mil unallocated.

That's a valid line of thought but the problem is you can push that out nearly as far as you want so you have to pick a point, draw a line and stop there. But now you have it in case you ever want to spec into both.
I could also say that you spent the SP on it knowing full well the suit you were using was probably temporary and there was a good chance you wouldn't have any use for it later on.
Point is there isn't a "right" answer here. Everybody wins a little bit, everybody loses a little bit. Someone is going to get a much better deal than you did and someone is going to get a much worse one. You find the solution that is best for the players, the game, your vision for it and your design principles. You avoid setting any bad precedents, make a decision and you stick with it.

I honestly think the only reason medium frames were refunded is because they have no idea how not to do it.

So yeah, its somewhat debatable. They could have done a partial refund for everything except for light weapons and sidearms. Its one thing if they just added a few new things or did a minor nerf. Its another if they changed how things work.

I maintain what I said about dropsuit upgrades. People spec their upgrades to match their preferred dropsuits. They changed how dropsuits and some upgrades work.
Im just curious why you are so strongly against any refunds? The game is incomplete. Its one thing to want a refund because you havent saved up for new content. its quite another to want a refund because they changed what you had been using in a dramatic fashion.
For the record I have 6,696,022 total and about 1,280,334 sitting unallocated. If we get the 1mil SP this weekend, ill have even more. so im not at all worried that I wont be able to try new content. Im disappointed because I really took my time to plan out my infantry fits according to how I play, and used my very limited SP very strategically. Now with their update everythings been tossed up, and with a partial refund im going to have to "make do".
