HAVs should show at ALL times on TACNETS. I mean seriously, those things must put off a HUGE signature profile, so why allow them to be stealthy? The same applies to all vehicles. The smaller the vehicles of course the smaller the profile, and then we can finally have an LAV variant that is quiet and stealthy.
Also, HAVs/LAVs/dropships should have a sensor precision themselves, and they should have to boost it to see vehicles and dropsuits that are that much smaller than themselves.

their scan profile is like 200 dB, but they show on scanners less often than scouts do?

The only way to see vehicles on your TacNet (if you're not looking directly at them) is you have them scanned.
This is how I get run over by LAVs, sometimes too. It's ridiculous. |

The reason they don't show up is because they're out of your scan range. Med suits only have like a 10m range or something, so no matter how large their profile is, you won't passively scan them until they're right on top of you.

I'd love to see someone explain to me why HAVs won't even show up on my advanced quantum scans half the time, even though they're right behind a wall or around a corner, but I can pick up a dampened scout suit.

Tanks should remain "stealthy." I quite enjoy stalking an enemy tank for 10-30 seconds, weaving around until the perfect moment comes when I can fire my full missile volley and instapop them.
Also, you can hear tanks well before they see you. So if you're infantry, use your audio and some intelligence to be alert. I can even hear other tanks when I'm in my own, so you shouldn't have any excuse. I bring shame to snipers in the mountains when I sneak up on them to within 10 meters and line myself up to get a direct hit with my missiles. Your fault you didn't hear me moving around and positioning myself behind you.

I understand that the short passive scanning range (10m for an assault) is what prevents you from visualizing on the TACNET, I think we would be fairly served if the difference between a suit's scanning precision and a foreign entity's scanning profile would award a bonus on scan range.
For example, say my scan precision is 50db and my scan range 10mts, entities with a scan profile under 50db would not show anywhere on radar, entities with profile of 50db would show within the 10m, then say that for every 5db greater than my precision I get to scan up to say 1m further, like a heavy (65db) I could scan from 13m or a TANK (200db) from 40m.
Just a brainstorm, numbers should be analyzed thoroughly, but basically, the stronger the signal, the farther you should be able to pick it up IMO.

Amen, my Gal scout picks up everything but an equally skilled scout, but the tank rumbling behind me....nope. Tanks, more fire power than squad of sentinels and stealthier than a scout, but definitely not OP Its simply wrong and needs to be fixed.
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

I wouldn't say for all scanners; for vehicles, they should stay horrible (unless the vehicle is designed to combat infantry, such as the scout-class LAV's, in which would be able to scan infantry, say a undampened heavy or medium). However, for infantry, they should be able to pick up vehicles easily; actually, since it's all based on sound waves, wouldn't it be cool if say there's a **** load of sound waves near due to lots of vehicles, and scanners get weakened due to them?

Given the amount of coordination necessary to take one down, it seems fair to me to allow scanning and TACNET to trace HAV movement better. |

If we did it would open up a future role of TII or proto HAV types that are TACNET dead.....and don't show up....AKA BLACK OPS HAV!
