So to start a new topic away from 1.8, I have been wondering why the gallente "assault rifle" isn't called the "plasma rifle" yet.
I mean, the description of the weapon says that it shoots plasma, and i think that it would just be right that new players aren't drawn to it because it is the only weapon name that they know. I just want to know if anyone agrees with me on this.
If you only see from your point of view, you are doing it wrong.

There's really no reason it cannot be renamed now, given that all racial rifles are currently live.

But then they would have to rename it to Assault Plasma Rifle and that means that it would have to be good like all the other assault "variants"

Blaster Rifle/plasma rifle. I like Short Hot Stuff personally.
