Aiming at HAV ca 100m away. - No indicating of locking on (sound) - No lock-on indicator (graphical) - No range readout, or other target information. Upon letting go of the trigger, fires a set of swarms.
This is indicative of a persistent problem with swarms: Lock-On indicators not working
We cannot, in a predictable way, rely on swarms and their lock-on mechanism when engaging HAVs - this often (for me at least) result in not getting a lock-on at all, or having to retry getting lock-on to ensure that I'm able to fire my swarm, severely reducing the effective DPS and resulting in a HAV that can fully ignore my swarm because I cannot keep up with his repper(s) in any way.
The Lock, and the Lock-on indicators (both acquiring and acquired) MUST work for the swarms to be any kind of reliable, and must work before we can sanely discuss things like damage output. (this is separate from the recent report that vehicles take far too little actual damage from swarms)
Other issues observed with the lock-on mechanism is that lock-on can be rendered impossible by having an item in your reticle, besides the HAV/DS/LAV. A typical example is a guard-rail (thin bit of metal keeping you from falling down) being anywhere in your reticle causing your swarm launcher to be rendered 100% inoperable.
As the overall suit of Anti-Armor material available to infantry is now getting "nerfed into oblivion" in Uprising 1.8, I can only marvel that such severe issues persists month-after-month, rendering this aspect of the game completely irrelevant.

Even small amounts of lag or frame rate drops can have extremely detrimental effects on swarm usage, mainly making consistent locking difficult.
With the item in reticle I think that you need to target the centre of mass of the vehicle. So if there is a tank 5m form you with a lampost between you and the centre of the tank then you can't lock on. This is silly. We should be able to lock on to any part of the tank. |

I mostly have this problem when I mash the button too quickly for consecutive lock-ons, simply because I'm only going to get 2 off before I hightail it from where I am into cover or die. But that being said, it does have some serious lag issues. I've had moments where the swarms 'left' with no sound and as I walk away it 'appears' two more randomly leave my body with sound. They don't do any damage or anything and immediately dissipate into the air, but yeah.
