As of one point 8 any and all basic suits are going to be radically outclassed by their specialist counterparts.
Fitting and slot layout match the specialist suits without the inherant bonuses, theyre also more expensive to run.
Why even have them?
Yes theyre less skill points... but once you've got the "better" suits, they just become a waste. (other that to reach the specialist suis)
The answer is "ForgeGun"... doesnt matter what the question is...

IMO - basic suits should be the cheaper of the two suits since they do not get the bonuses of the specialized suits. Why would something be more expensive that does less?

They're BASIC suits. Of course SPECIALIZED suits will outclass them. Basically, as it has always been, basic suits are the easier ones to get. It takes more to go into their specialized counter-parts, so it's not unusual (or at least it used to be) to see a random prototype basic suit.
It doesn't matter though. I'm coming back to 1.8 for the Gallentean Commando.

I disagree... specalist suits should be that... specialist, they shouldnt be inherantly better. Give the basic suits a role in the battlefield.
All thats going to happen is we're going to have half the suits that no one uses, and sometime in the feuture a dev shout "TIERICIDE!!"

No, they should add bonuses to the suit. Just add one per level bonus to every basic suit that is racially motivated and then have multiple suits in each tier.
A basic frame should be a stepping stone to a specialization not a totally inferior suit.
