in my low slots aside from armour plates?
Speed is good, but they ain't no damage mods. Dampening is pretty neat, but they ain't damage mods either.
What is there in low slots that provides a frontline combat benefit aside from armour?
In my high slots I have two options - shields and armour. Really, what else can one put there?

I think your either confused or possibly trolling, since you said shield and armor go in high slots which is not the case. Which suit are you running, that will help us to answer your question. |

I was actually suggesting that there is no module of equivalent combat value to the damage mod aside from tank modules. Which means the only thing of value in the low slots is the armour plate, as opposed to the high slots where damage and shields are both valuable.

You forget armor rep. Hack modules. Almost all the lows are useful for something. An high number of low slots mean you can have variants or specialization.
1.8 it's so secret that nobody know what will be in it, even after patch notes...

Well, since uour sig says Amarr AK.0, I'd fit armor reps and armor then shield or dmg mods for the highs.... your technically an armor tanker so it just depends on if you want a shield buffer or to pump out more DPS. |

I guess the first question to ask is what role are you trying to build the suit for?
Stealth? Tank? Speed? Team Support?
Answer that question and you will have an idea of what you should be fitting in your lows. Always play to the innate benefits of the suit you are using.

GOD DAMN IT it was a metaphorical question.
THE POINT was that I was emphasising the lack of combat-useful modules in low slots, where utility modules are abundant, as opposed to high slots where there are almost no utility modules but two combat modules.
My ak.0 is pretty nicely fit with proto guns, a proto nade, a scanner or uplinks, 2x basic plate 1x complex rep and 3x complex extender/ 2x ext 1x dam.
So there.

This is what I was after.
While this is true, if I am making a combat-focused suit, I won't want to fit anything but plates or reppers, and maybe a regulator depending on my main tank.
Unlike high slots where there is an option for tank as well as a solitary option for gank, that being damage mods.

Honestly, its because EWAR doesnt exist in Dust right now.. if it did, you would see the following
High Slots - Shields & EWAR Low Slots - Armor, Damage, & Fitting Upgrades
Right now Highs are only Shield and Damage Lows have tons of useful slots that help a particular playstyle.

I have a complex dampener on every single one of my logi suits besides my main repping fit.
Trust me, being able to sneak up on people is so awesome. If you learn to attack from the side or behind they make a great addition to an aggressive fit. But you only need one.
Trust me, it works. When you're a medium frame with over 800 ehp and invisible, the enemy will absolutely hate you.

Honestly, i think that high slots have a very poor pool of modules and the 2 you mention are the only 2 kind of modules i would put in a high slot. But if you are pointing that HP>all, i can't say no, it's somehow true.
At least with low slots you actually have a choice, with high it's only shield or dmod. In 1.8 it's only shield.
