I didn't think anyone was making a big deal out of it. Regular one is better, but I do like the ACR for close quarters maps.
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

Its an easy to use and easy to fit weapon. Low skill players will naturally flock to it.

Close quarters my regular one is better it seems....and I never have to reload mid fight...

It's slightly easier to use than the CR.
Which isn't saying much since the CR is easy as bacon.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

It's for people who can't be bothered to feather.
I do think it looks better in the FPPV than the regular, though.

Spray and pray FTW. Though I have to admit, in CQC the ACR is more effective than the CR because fractions of a second matter big time with the current TTK.

I'll take the scoped CR any day of the week. I can imagine the ACR would be great if I went hit and run scout but as I try to avoid confrontations usually, the scoped one is better for my purpose.

Just like all the full auto guns.
Its a reaction to dying when you a perceive yoursef as being superior when you didn't tap your ScR or CR fast enough.
It also is a reason the ScR is called OP sometimes. People who CAN use it good **** squads to bits, people who can't eat dirt.
Full Auto- Low skill range (The bad players aren't as so much worse then the good players)
Burst/Semi- High Skill range (The good players are VERY good with it, the bad players can be VERY bad with them)
Because you Wanted to be Something your Not.
