So I figured with the Dev blackout we could do something fun!
Lets play skirmish 1.0! Lets play out some real squad builds and tacticals like the good old days.
A really good way to win is to take out the shield generators quickly. CCP removed this gamemode saying the defending team would always win, but the game was incomplete, with todays weapons skirskm 1.0 would be balanced.
So that's what this thread is going to be, Skirmish 1.0 with 1.8 patch drop suits and weapons.
Plan A.
Bring in 4 tanks and head hard and fast. By taking out the shield generators you give your MCC more health to attack the base. The defenders might pull out forge guns, the tanks must move through small thin alley ways which impede movement and allow for scout suits to drop remote mines and AV grenade, also highbridges for forge gunners to use as a line of defence.
Well I don't know I need to sleep on this but you should theorycraft with me. Aren't you bored on the forums? |

Since that would take a long time,scrubs wont be bothered to squeeze through an alley with their tank so they will sit on the redline blapping away at anything

No that was not a problem in 1.0
See the map was a canyon. It was a two stage map, snipers had to move out into the field but the battlefield once you access the outpost you are trying to capture the tanks gets a big open field to play around in. It's really fun setting up tank protective lines to get LAVs safety into the base to disable the base defences and allow the MCC to hack and capture the district.
You just couldn't stay in a red line it was designed out of the map with good level design.
The 1st stage is where you take out the shield generators to access the base. If the defences hold until the MCC loses shields the MCC retreats in shame. |

Nah the entire balance and way they built this game was around Skirmish 1.0.
Suits, Tanks, LAV's, Dropships... All had a role that worked well together... This is the game mode when they started on UE3 that they balanced and built the entire game around.
the game modes we have now where after thoughts thrown together last minute. Domination is a result of players asking for a king of the hill map for a year.. And they finally gave it to us on a EVE wide event when a Leviathan Titan fell into Caldari prime. Just for that event...
After about a month of consistent posting from everyone on the forums they brought Domination back as that name for general player use. |

Dumbfire swarms? People complain they're gone, but the Plasma Cannon could be their non OP replacement. Until 1.8, anyways. After that, you'll have to rely on direct impact. |

I dont remember having uplinks back then
(could be I just couldnt fit them on my super scout)
but from what I remeber it was always a fight over CRUs to bring our spawns forward
uplinks would drastically change the fight |
