It would be better if different things in game had different hacking duration, for example things like LAVs should be shorter to hack than HAVs, HAV and vehicles in general should be shorter than installations.
I don't know if it works like this at the moment, but it seem that hacking duration is the same for almost everything.
Basically my suggestion is: give an hacking duration using as a parameter the isk cost of the item.
Cheap= short hack Expensive= long hack
1.8 it's so secret that nobody know what will be in it, even after patch notes...

What about Null Cannons? Should the hack speed remain the same? Or are you conidering them to be in the same category as Installations?
Interesting idea none the less. It would be cool, once they have racial parity for the anti-MCC weapons, if they added in a hacking penalty for opposing races. So that if you're in a Gallente Suit it would take longer to hack Caldari Cannons. You could also have a bonus to hacking your own Races Cannons. Could work for Vehicles and Equipment as well. |

I've taken null cannon as the longest to hack. I like your idea of hack penalties and bonus.

I don't know that I would base it off of ISK cost, but I think size could work well.
So from fastest to slowest it might look like this:
Equipment Light Vehicles Medium Vehicles Heavy Vehicles Installations Null Cannons
Each category having an increasingly longer base hack time. |
