For 1.8. It just does not seem complete enough to me with posts from devs about medium suit cpu and slot changes, AV nerfs (through damage mods) and no changes to tanks because they could not get them done in time.
I mean we have waited a long time, and a lot of people (myself included) have high hopes for 1.8, but another busted patch with glaring imbalances might just be too much.
I thought for sure after the last 3 months of tank spam AV would get sorted out, but i most certainly did not expect to lose AV nades and have our overall damage reduced so drastically due to the DM reduction. I also expected a minor change to tanks i.e. hardener stacking to be fixed.
A lot of better informed people than me have made in-depth analytical posts about the information we have so far. Through reading these and the dev blogs the one thing i could not find which was the only thing i was looking for was balance.
Happy to wait CCP, just get it right. |

I agree. The wait will be worth it if CCP gets it done the first time. I can wait, just don't make me wait to fix a mistake that came up with 1.8 and try to fix it in 1.11. |

The fact that part of what makes Dust unique compared to most other FPS games is that everything is consumable is pretty good grounds to warrant Dust also having a higher TTK than most other FPS games. When you bring a dropsuit on the battlefield you actually paid for it, whether through ISK or AUR, so it's an investment. When people see their investment get melted seemingly instantaneously it does not create happy feelings. So from my perspective the high increase in TTK is a great welcome.
The grenade nerf on the other hand looks like a bad attempt to fix a problem. The only thing I can think of is CCP thinks it'll reduce grenade spam, except that when you grenade spam you stand on top of clusters of uplinks, so it doesn't matter if you storage count is 3, 2, or 1, you'll keep getting them replenished. Bad move.
As far as medium dropsuits go, they are making some slight changes like the Amarr medium suits armor/shield values, but besides that there's not much really going on. However, given that there are big changes to the full set of lights and heavies then might as well get those out the door.
I can understand the desire to want to wait until it's perfect, but one patch is never going to fix everything and if you think waiting longer may do that then you're setting yourself up for disappointment. At this point the players just want to see progress, and I believe 1.8 is in fact progress.

^ this. I say go for it, just drop the patch as is, though I'm extremely unhappy that no HAV/AV balance changes are being included (other than grenade cap nerf and damage mod nerf, which tip the balance further towards tanks).
Respec in 1.8 due to huge battlefield role shift for MinLogi!

It can't be much worse than 1.7. I'll take different broken-ness over the same broken-ness we've had for the last 4 months.

Without the complete medium suit or AV changes, I'll just wait for 1.9 or whatever I guess instead of investing in "BLANK" (assuming respec is 1.8). I figure Dark Souls 2 comes next week. I'm sure I'll be fine killing time for the next month.
Dren and Templar equipment stats, wrong since release.

Quite honestly, as much as I've always believed in increasing TTK I'm not quite sure exactly how that will change the moment-to-moment gameplay and anyone who claims to know is lying. It's one of those things you have to wait and experience first hand to truly know. Sadly CCP and Sony aren't able to work together to get us a test server.

If they go back to the 1 month patch time or something akin to it, then it doesn't matter if this patch doesn't do things that most people would see as necessary like giving the Swarm Launcher some TLC. If it only takes a month for the next fix, no big deal.
Of course, the problem is that the Developers will forever be playing whack-a-mole with this kind of philosophy. One balance change creates two balance problems that are fixed next month that creates two more. Repeat ad infinitum. |
