Do they exist?
I understand there are "good", squad snipers, and there are "bad", selfish snipers. Generally, I see snipers randomly shooting at whoever they can get target on.
Every time I get sniped consistently and I know we have snipers on our team, I'm wondering wtf they are doing.
I'd like to think I'm not the only who, whenever I pull out a sniper rifle, tries to eliminate enemy snipers to get them off my team's back.
I was going to use that Installation...

I tend to only go sniping when the other team has a bunch on their red line, so i guess I'm a team sniper. I'm with you!
Also if I have a bunch on my team (in the red line) I tend to be dropping tanks on them. Id recommend it, very funny!!

Yes, I exist.
I'm better at counter-sniping than actually aiming at infantry since the frame rate makes me miss a lot. Especially when I use a controller like I always do.
If you snipe me, I will look for you, I WILL find you, and I will kill you.
Same goes if you use a thale on anyone, or get more than 3 sniper kills. Good luck, red. |

Counter-snipers exist, but it's not a set role.
Often when I'm satisfied that there's no more scout work to do, I go hunt enemy snipers with my own sniper rifle. Also if I happen to be in a commando with with a sniper rifle on it, I try to prioritize enemy snipers if I feel like my teammate's have my back.

You should really have a KB/M on the standby with Dust. Wrist control is so much better for sniping.
And to the OP, I think sniping is a relative dead role or if not dead, situational. Most just avoid that section, leaving the sniper wasting away precious time while the rest of his team gets pulverized.

Your Counter Snipers don't sit back in the redline. they're usually the ones fighting with you in the heat of battle, until someone makes em miffed, then they go and headshot the punk. At least, that's what I do.

Counter sniping is a big part of being a good sniper in Dust. You're the best response to a sniper on the other team. Of course you have to remember that the reverse is true, so keep an eye out for anyone trying to snipe you back.

At this point I only ever pull out my sniper rifle in two situations: 1. When I get sniped and get angry. 2. When my team is getting wrecked by roof-camping enemies. Fracture Road Dom in particular is like a shooting gallery for a well-positioned sniper, and ledge control pretty much determines the outcome of the match.
Respec in 1.8 due to huge battlefield role shift for MinLogi!

Yeah, I've heard it's better, but the ones I have are like windows 95 in terms of efficiency.
I'm waiting to get more moniez to get a new gaming rig. I'm thinking of getting a razer laser mouse with the Choc S 104 keyboard.
Perhaps I'll use it for Dust. I don't know. |

Most counter-snipers in dust are usually counter-sniping things other than snipers. If you put a stationary target in the middle of the battlefield that gave 5 points per hit, I wager they'd shoot little else.

I'd like to think I'm not the only who, whenever I pull out a sniper rifle, tries to eliminate enemy snipers to get them off my team's back. We who like to counter-snipe cannot do our jobs if nobody tells us where the snipers that hit them are. Main chat is often devoid of any vocals whenever I play because people blindly talk only in squad chat instead of team. This usually means that we have to search and scan the entire battlefield by ourselves if someone in another squad gets hit, or if I only have a few minutes to play I'll be solo, cause squadding for only one game is a bit... annoying. General chat with a direction, point of impact and range is very useful, but few people know how to read this info, let alone tell it back so that we can pinpoint the target.
How to read out your screen: When hit, an portion of a circular indicator will light up designating the direction of impact a bullet hit you, the directions are read as if from a top-down perspective ---Top: Front ---Bottom: behind ---Sides:Angles in between same direction as flare You only have a second or so to evaluate this impact before it fades. On your death screen a distance is indicated which tells you how far away the bullets came from. And finally, the map can be used to find your last death point.
Figure out what direction you were facing, add in the damage angle, then eye out the distance, and BOOM! Sniper position revealed! All you have to do then is call out the estimated point of the sniper, and the return fire can begin.
If you can read this, it means you are reading.

you cant, the snipers are just broken but yes we should have variable zoom in the year 30,000
all the weapons need major sight overhauls except the smg and mass driver. those two have really cool sights. rest of the guns in the game are awful. snipers need a lot of work. |

At least, that's what I do. This! I have 3 roles on this character; 1 ADS pilot (primary), 2 Std Caldari assault, 3 Sniper. Mostly my sniping is counter-sniping and I die alot because of it, because I find to be a good counter you often have to get close to where you know your teammate got sniped.
If my squad can point out the exact location, great I might be able to get a line of sight other than the same one they're using. If not, well, chasing around the outside of the map is a good way to waste a match. That being said, I usually only spend my time on proto-snipers, std and adv rifles just aren't effective enough against most infantry without a headshot, snipers though hold nice and still.
Not new, just new to you.

If you wanna kill snipers try using either Assault Dropships or Rail Tanks ..... you take no risks and will probs make the sniper rage quit
