Why I Want to be a Member of CPM1 Firstly an application to the CPM isn't something I've thought about lightly. I took into consideration if id have the time to dedicate myself to it and if I can meet the time and effort to accurately and informally give feedback to this community. I'll go into how I plan to do this a little later.
Dust Is a great game, amid the broken PC, the missing racial parity and the multitude of tanks. Its a game I and many other players keep coming back to, and that says something very special for a game, it's potential.
I don't want dust to be a game labeled for poor imbalanced mechanics, a game that you go to because it's cheap and "free". I want people to flock to it because they've heard the stories of people doing amazing things in a vast universe where doing amazing things is made possible.
It's because of this I finally decided to make my application.
What Qualifies Me I'm not a biased player. I've played this game for close to a year now and I have a good amount of insight into some of the many different roles. From Support Logi and Heavy to Assault and Sneaky Scout. I have a good amount of knowledge of this game.
Also Iv been modding games for a while, and whilst this does not by any means make me an expert, it gives me a bigger insight into the workings of how a game may be put together, and what is capable within it.
My ability to give feedback to the community is something that I feel is a bonus for me and my application. Aside from writing forum posts I'll be able to hold Skype conversations, (maybe regularly scheduled) and I have a HD capture card to create videos of the game.
What I Will Aim to Accomplish in my Term The one thing thats going to help every aspect of this game is more new players. New players help dilute the field providing much better and evenly matched games and a much more vibrant economy. So helping CCP create the best new player experience would be of it highest priority.
Something else I would like to push for is to take this game out of the lobby mechanics it's in. Help this game along it's road to a truly open world shooter. Larger scale battles and an open ended universe to explore.
Bring in PVE! This is an obvious choice to push for. It helps the new players get good and breaks the monotony of queue and fight, queue and fight. Both of which I mentioned previously.
Thanks for Reading I hope that you will vote for me. And if you do I can promise to provide the information that you would expect from me and to help make this game something brilliant.

Skype says your Skype name doesn't exist. If you merged it with a Microsoft account, you might need that now?

Syeven,
Glad to see you throwing your hat into the ring for CPM1; more candidates provides much deeper pool for the community to engage and compare. I am a bit unfamiliar with you either in game or on the forum so I've been reading some of your previous posts to get better context for your positions. I've included my baseline candidate questions for you but as I have asked a few other candidates can you provide some additional "who am i" details if you don't mind? Age, profession, education, gaming background, other relevant experience that might be useful to you individually or the collective CPM.
Here are a few specific questions for you (same as I pose to all candidates):
1) Other than the forums how do you intend to collect and communicate requests, needs, POV of the community? In particular, those outside your corp / alliance.
2) What level of interaction would you like to establish between the CPM and CSM?
3) What are the top 3 short term (next 2mo's) changes you would encourage CCP to make? I'm looking for concrete examples that are realistic to achieve.
4) What are the top 3 mid term (next 6mo's) changes you would encourage CCP to make?
5) In Spring of 2015, when CPM1's term is up, what would you want people to have said about your tenure as a CPM member?
6) Will you be creating a channel for folks to meet and sqd with you during the period before the election?
Thank you for your time.

Hey, Thanks! Of course, it's always good to know who your voting for. Well firstly I'm Syeven Reed in DUST, but in real life you can call me Tom. I'm 24 and work in an Apple Store (that being said most of my gaming occurs on a PC (don't tell )).
Iv been a huge MMO fan back since vanilla WoW when it was good, then moved to EvE Online in 2009, dual boxing in all its gloriousness! Iv since sold the 2009 character because it's main focus was mining and well, it's a very boring profession!
Some of my hobbies I do are Modding games, I'm especially a fan of creating open world environments like the one I'm currently working on for Skyrim *insert link here*
Thats a little about me, I'll go on to your other questions now.
1) I would love to hold Skype or in game conversations, text is all well and good but I find it hard to hold real talks. With audio I feel like there much more of a 1-2<-1.
2) I'm not sure how big it is now, I haven't seem much of it so I'm going to assume mostly non existent. I would like to push for a bigger link, simply because a bigger link between us would inherently give a bigger link between DUST and EvE.
3) Hmmm, 2 months is a very short time. In that time I would push what the community's feedback may be on aspects of the game, be it imbalances or something for the roadmap. But without knowing more about whats going on behind the scenes this is a difficult question to answer further, I want to give an honest no BS answer.
The new player experience, I and many other CPM candidates understand the value of this. New players above all else will help this game the most. I mean after all, an online game is made to be played by many people, and one like DUST thats se t in the sandbox thats EvE, you could argue more than any other.
4) This however is a much more feasible timeframe! First thing would be the player market. If were ever going to have a connection with EvE this is something that has to gain it's roots soon. It needs to establish it's own solid economy before it ca be introduced to EvE's
Secondly PvE. I believe this will come along with the NPE but it's something that I would like to help see done right. Id push for easy soloable modes, and then the hard core shoot yourself in the head modes (friendly fire turned on, everything(Mayhem!!)).
And thirdly more of a solid connection between EvE and DUST, I currently have *THIS* set as my wallpaper. If you watched Fanfest last year you may know what it is. It's a bridge between the two games. And even though Iv placed this as my third choice it's something that I really want. It just has to be further away so it doesn't demolish the economy
5) I would hope people will say that Iv done my job and done it well, and that Iv gone further than what was asked of me.
6) Yes! I will! And it will be called, "Syeven for CPM!" Literally creating it as I type this. I'll make a note on the OP too. I hope to see people there and of course it's there I can be contacted in game chat for a talk.
Thank you for yours!

Thanks for the response, Syeven.
I would recommend you link up 2 or 3 seminal posts about issues of importance to the Dust Communtiy so that folks can quickly see where you stand on a couple key areas.

jenza aranda wrote:What have you done recently for the community that makes you a good applicant? Something that I'm working on right now are tutorials to help the newer players. My idea is that I'm creating a lot of small 5 minute videos that sort of build up a portfolio that you can enter and easily find the specific area that you have questions about.
Each video will have a first private draft that all be posting on the forums so that some of the veteran and/or newer players can see if there is anything I may have overlooked (after all i'm not a new player anymore). After that ill make some edits, reshoot parts, then release as public on youtube.
I'm not releasing any videos until 1.8 is out though. Until i know what is a definite, I don't want to give the wrong information. Something that becoming a CPM will help with in the future.

What I meant was that I don't hold fanboyism over any particular role.
Also thanks for the vote! Sort of... I think? Ill try to make it worth it!

What sort of aspects here separate you from the rest of us potential candidates? Nearly all the CPM1 candidates have played since closed beta. The Uprising 1.0 full SP refund and the 1.8 Dropsuit Command SP refund would have allowed people to have played multiple roles. Or simply having played along enough we've accrued enough SP to branch off into multiple roles. At the same time, many people have multiple characters that they play, rarely are they the exact same build.
On the other hand you mention your capacity to give feedback to the community. This is something important for all candidates to have, and nearly all other potential CPM1 members have linked feedback section threads that they've created.

The present CPM are very busy, but much of it is not public. Those on CPM0 were very active in the community before becoming CPM, which then took up a lot of their time. It's actually one of the reasons I'm unsure jenza's question is a good one. Because someone who is actively doing a ton for the community may actually be able to do more for the community by staying off the CPM and continuing to do whatever it is they do. But that's just one perspective, of course.
I'd like to be your CPM1 candidate
