Please heed my warning CCP.
With the nerf to damage mods. Proficiency skills only applying to one damage type coupled with the explosion resistance as well as weapon resistances of the heavy suit you guys are grossly over buffing the heavy suit.
CCP, do you understand what you're doing here? This is a recipe for disaster. Worse than any FoTM you've created so far. This is not an Exaggeration
I know everything is pretty much set in stone as far as dropsuit changes go but to pad the blow of the invincible heavies you are introducing in 1.8 you guys need to drastically increase the price of heavy suits. Back in Codex Heavies cost about as much as the tanks costed back then. This needs to happen again unless you want this game to become nothing but heavies.
Please, reevaluate the price of heavy dropsuits to fit the risk reward ratio of the suit, I'm begging you guys.
Think about this please.
Sincerely Jarrad Glynn Kirk

I dunno about worse than any FOTM thus far (they've had some strong ones), but I do agree, come 1.8, heavies will see more use (but at least the sentries can't use equipment, and they and commandos have low stamina and are slow, at least until they get into an LAV that can't be killed by AV nades without nanohives).
And should suits/modules vary costs dependent on how often they are expected to die? Should short range high-risk weapons then cost much less than low risk long range weapons (ie: since a proto shotgun will die more than a proto sniper rifle, should the sniper cost that much more?).
Unequal pricing based on expected deaths is an idea I've had before, and I'm not sure how I feel about it, but it is an interesting point you bring up. |

I actually had to login just to tell you no. Just, no. Heavy suits already require more SP to invest in then light or medium suits. Don't increase the price further than it already is just because they might get used more. Should scrambler rifles also have an increase in price? What about RR? They've been pretty op, maybe you should double the price on them since they're op.

Then just get a whole squad to storm the heavy and overrun him. Problem solved. []
So it will take me two charged stabs with the knives instead of one, big woop.

Have one Laser, One rail weapon targeting same guy. Easy down. Nuff said. Heavies won't be OP they'll just be a true HEAVY. Commandos will actually be the powerful one, as they will have the highest DMG output of all the suits.
Edit: Forgot to point out that heavies aren't really all that "Heavy" at the moment. They are just slightly stronger than a Health Tanked medium suit, Which is poop. They should have the defense. besides. Its not to every weapon. Remember that. Just figure out what each suit's weakness is, and exploit it. Nuff said. Obviously Each weapon is designed to take down a specific suit, not every suit. So if you're always running Lasers, and are complaining that you don't hit armor very hard, It's not meant to. Duh! Run a RR and a ScR. Easy Peazy lemon squeezy. Deal good damage, nuff said.

This is what I love about the nova knives. They'll be the only weapon to deal uniform bonus damage to both shield and armor according to the dev blogs. Yay! Knifers rejoice!

at this point you cant stop it from happening 1.8 is to far in development to change this soon with out months worth of balance calculations, its worth just letting it happen then coming up with a balanced solution in the long term once you see it in action and have "field data"

Anything that needs more than one Team member to kill will be OP...as this creates an imbalance in numbers. But we will see how heavies will play out, but my prediction: with the already ongoing increase Assault Heavies things will be much worse in 1.8.
We will see even more tank spam and quite some heavy spam as well. I still remember those games where I had to fight 16 heavies per match.... |
