Atm it seems like a smg is better than a pistol, tell me, how would aplha be better than dps on a cloaked scout? You want to kill as fast as possible, and the magsec is already REALLY accurate... |

both. i'm what i call a sidearm specialist (every sidearm in the game is AT LEAST proficiency 3) and i don't plan on changing that when the new weapons come out.

I'll take this one.
450% bonus on headshots plus my proficiency to lvl 4 on a TT-3 will destroy anything.Now I'm not sure about the bolt pistols,but I never really liked the SMGs in this game.I will still contend that they are more automatic pistols similar to an Uzi or a Tech 9 than SMGs(like an MP5) anyway.The CR is a true SMG imo. |

Like I said, no headshots...what advantage does a bolt pistol have over a smg? Sure, alpha, but less dps so its negated....btw there is no point in aplha if the magsec is accurate. |

Even without a headshot the Scrambler Pistol can out DPS an SMG but the SMGs have three times the potential damage per magazine.

Pistols also have easier fitting requirements. Depending on how you set up your dropsuits then a pistol to finish an enemy may allow you to fit other, more important modules. If you rarely use your sidearm then train for a pistol.

I use both the pistol and smg the scrambler pistol will always be my first love though.

why use it over an smg if aplha means nothing without headshots
What advantage does wielding a bolt pistol have over a magsec or smg, aplha means nothing without headshots

Standard Bolt Pistol: 337 DPS
SMG: 350
Magsec SMG: 355
Bolt Pistol doesn't get the Scrambler head shot bonus either but is the easiest to fit of the three. I'd carry a Magsec though because it won't run out of ammo as fast.

Secondly, SCP goes way beyond headshots. I'm currently doing 90+ damage to the shot.
Bolt Pistol vs. Mag Sec SMG
They are both Automatic, but pistols are innately cheaper to use than SMG's and the Bolt Pistol will have superior accuracy. As a TY-5 Breach Scrambler Pistol enthusiast I know that that the Bolt Pistol will wreck things. Bolt Pistol also has longer range
Thirdly, given you make a headshot, the one with the higher damage is more likely to OHK. Also a shorter charge on the pistol.

I would really like to see a scout suit that has bonuses to sidearms.
I would like to see a skill tree like this with the skills tied to the suit.

The SMG can be used as accurately as a rifle, just with shorter range.
