Wow
It was the most boring and effective counter to any vehicle I have seen. It was absolutely stupid. I got my DS shot out by a HAV deep deep deep in the redzone so I finally caved and brought out a Damage Amped Redline Rail Tank.
It was by far the least fun I can imagine doing yet too effective. My primary mission was revenge and I got it. I played "Sit still and shoot and see who dies first from across the map. No joke, a battle of who has better timing from one redline to the other.
CCP I beg you to get rid of this crap. If it's not fun it shouldn't be in the game << While that's a matter of opinion, any opinion that states redline railgunning is fun is a sub-opinion, a lesser one that should be disregarded>>. Sitting there and shooting a target with little rISK from way beyond any other weapon's range is not fun for either party and really it just becomes a pissing contest. Only way to counter another redline rail is with a redline rail.
This vicious food chain of rail > rail > rail > rail is terrible. Who wants to fly when redline rails? Who wants to participate in any vehicular activity when redline rails?
I don't have anything against the redline or railguns but when you just combine the two you have a horribly repetitive, boring, a biased cycle that rewards the monotonous people who contribute little except make the game very frustrating for others who try to experience a little diveristy to try to have fun.
Where did the Railgun touch you?
Everywhere and then it made me touch it.

Redline rails are the cancer of this game. Whoever thought that countering rail tanks should happen with another rail tank was braindead. It's like fighting fire with fire, no good is gonna come out of it.
EDIT: Then again there are plenty of counters to rail tanks that come out in the open, but if they sit in the redline then only rails can kill them. Or a VERY lucky orbital.
R.I.P. Pre-1.7 tanks, you will be missed.

Like I said, rail tanks aren't the problem. I ran a Railgun Soma a few other times before but never in the redline. Railgun tanks are far easier to deal with when they are fair game.
